Where are all the dependable, raiding templars?
Are we all guilded already?!?! That must be the case. Because when an app does come along RL suddenly comes up or they become a recruit and mysteriously fall off the face of the earth (guildtagitis 4tl).
If I'm not alone in this then there's hope, and I just need to be more patient. If it's just me, then I need to figure out why. I show up, I play my class the best I know how, I read flames and study how the top templars do their shit so I can try to be as good as them, etc. I'm not bossy with apps, but I do expect them to know their class. (If you're level 80 you shouldn't need your hand held anyway.) And when questions come up I answer them the best I can or I find out from others. I'm even open to have them in MT group if they're good (shit, I'd love to see what kind of dps we're capable of - just never have the chance).
So I'm sorry if this isn't the place for it, but I'm really fed up and tired. Maybe I just miss how hard the game used to be - where skills were achieved with time instead of boxing and PL'ing.

Nevermind Templar, we haven't seen an applicant for an open cleric slot in months.
I'm not really sure what's scaring people off. Templars could hardly be more desirable in raiding guilds. Back when eq2 census was still up, I could have sworn Templar was the most popular healer.

Actually I'd take a templar recruit who knows how box over one who doesnt.. those players are generally very good at the game.

One applicant...
I was the main templar for my (casual) raiding guild, and took my job seriously. We took on a secondary/my off night templar and he posted on guild site, helpfully, his aa setup, you know, so the rest of us could learn/respond.
He was end line in the old-world undead aa line. And he was serious about it. He didn't have the DoF power to heal reactive. I was stunned. He was, thankfully, very open to new ideas, and took all my (limited) experience to heart.
Fast forward to him leaving us because he wanted a little more of the lime light (if I was on, I was MT heal.), heading off to another raid guild.
I leave the game (80/140 templar, tell your friends) and he swings by our guild site to post some helpful advice to whoever took my spot. His post was, verbatim, everything I had posted (aa setups, spell orders, soling/heroic/raiding gear,) with no credit to the midget (I always play short races) who steered him away from his solo setup.
This had nothing to do with my leaving the game, but it was a nice slap in the face to top off my leaving the game.

I guess my point was when things come easy someone is more inclined to get bored (not be as dependable) and either change class or leave game.

Re: Where are all the dependable, raiding templars?
All the templars I know who are worth recruiting are already in raiding guilds. I know I betrayed over from Inquisitor in EoF days because finding a good MT templar was like trying to find a needle in a haystack and I have never looked back.
