Re: So, are we really so overpowered?
I think if we are OP, it is because Inqs suck so much for raiding. I too have played both, extensively.
Where as you can stick either a Defiler/Mystic or Warden/Fury in the MT group and get by just fine, you cannot just stick an Inquisitor in there. They just don't have the healing tools.
Sure, you can do it on easy stuff. But if you're killing say Druusk for the first time, forget it. Just call the raid. They make up for it in group and solo settings, no doubt. But raid wise, they are the most underpowered healer.

Re: So, are we really so overpowered?
Also, while an Inqs DPS is "easy" to get high, I think a DPS speced Templar will do better in a raid setting. This is mostly due to Inqs being caped out on melee buffs in T7, and having no head room in T8 to improve. Templars, on the other hand, got all kinds of +spell damage/crit gear that we didn't have before.

Re: So, are we really so overpowered?
I am looking at this from the healing POV in groups and raids, so here some things that haven't been mentioned yet...
- Soothe - one of the most underrated abilities in the game for solo and grouping. Awesome stuff. Even better when your tank knows about it and demands it for tricky pulls or just to bypass mobs to save time.
- CC - for a healer, we have CC aplenty. Long duration stun, long duration daze, long duration daze on aoe deaggro, most of us have a 13s mezz and a CA stun - in a heroic setting, this means we barely have to heal. You can do most of Chelsith with just Repent and your CCs, solo healing. Most of COA anyway.
- Lotto heals - these are situational, but can push us to the very top of the heal parse. They cost almost nothing to maintain, can be kept up infinitely, and heal without us having to worry about it. I remember when I betrayed from inq to templar and saw all these heals the templars had extra - I was quite astonished. Granted, Reverence and Healing Fate aren't that cool, but they beat the inq bullshit (Heretic's Demise? Heresy? Bah) by far.
- Sanctuary - how many pulls would be really awkward without Sanctuary, having the potential to go very very wrong if a CC aoe or freak CC hits on pull? Yes, tanks also demand Bolster on pull, but you can do without in almost all fights.
The only reason why we're not totally hopelessly overpowered for heroic instances is that our reactives don't get used that well... f.e. in Vaults the mobs hit for quite high dmg per attack. This seems to be different (better) in RE2, thank God.
And as to raids... you can't really add our Shield Ally and the stoneskin to our HPS, since we don't do anything for them, and since you don't count defiler debuffs as heals either. But yea, who wants to raid without a templar in MT group. But RoK has been very gentle to us. Not only are our power issues gone (in MT group I am always at 95% power), also with some Overloaded Heal items, our group reactive becomes a 2nd group heal, diminishing the problem of the long recast on our real group heal. Also, WIS is a joke stat now (might change with next GU), so you don't lose anything if you go for the parry adornments. Having to use Drelikus as shield isn't so bad, although I would like the other shield from SoH or the Star of Malice better, but /shrug.
So, are we overpowered? We surely bring lots and lots to the table, but there will always be a shaman to complement us in MT group. The wardens and the inquisitors really could need a buff, but I don't really see the templars as sticking out too much from the rest of the bunch in a raiding context. Against heroic content.. hmmm....

Re: So, are we really so overpowered?
Great, I am happy to see that my overall experience is the same.
Yes I absolutely love sooth/daze/stun and also not to forget the shield bash mezz - awesome stuff.
In general I still think we are just very lucky to be a very well balanced class, certainly not OP like most other healers cry however.
I do admit though that I really don't know the defiler class much (except from fighting them in pvp).
Once again, thanks a lot for all the input - it's much appreciated

I assume you mean what guild?
Validus on Splitpaw.
I'm kinda enjoying Inquis in some ways, but healing wise, jeez, I feel like I've had limbs cut off at the moment.

I love healing fate. I used to use that solo healing OT group on avatars in t7 and end the fight at full power. That was before they added in all the damn power procing stuff.
Reverance is good for people using chokers.
I think we are pretty balanced.
There is a druid from allure spouting off on eq2 boards about how wardens should get our shield ally and blessing line so that have a place in raids. Why doesn't she take our hp buff and our plate too while she is at it.

Re: So, are we really so overpowered?
Templars are overpowered though theres nothing they can do about it with out fucking up the balance. Oh and id say any encounter could be beat with a inquisitor in the templars spot.

Yeah, and you could eat a steak with a spork too, but why would you want to?

Re: So, are we really so overpowered?
I choose to not eat steak so your analogy is wasted.
