Well, "quality" is really hard to understand, as it could mean fabled, legendary, etc., or it could mean how good is the item, but I'm pretty certain they mean protection in this case.

I would say that is pretty much true - Just look at Guard of Drelikus vs any fabled shield atm.

With Alacrity V it really is too bad that they didn't make the protection higher on the Corporeal shield. Wishful thinking of course. What is the consensus? Would it be better to go with SORH or the SOH one for a shield ally specced MT Temp now that the Guard of Drelikus is out of the picture?

PS, maybe I rode the short bus to the forums licking the windows the whole way but I'm still fuzzy after reading Roldor's post and Pinski's post. Does quality affect the mit?

Considering the Rainbow shield is T7 and thus has less protection vs T8 raid mobs than listed in its examine window... besides, who knows what Fireflyte will do to the rainbow shield now he found out it's a priest usable roundshield (omgz!)...

Brace is the best Shield Ally shield after the nerf imo. It has the highest protection of all T8 shields except the GoD, and the difference is so small, it doesnt matter. I don't understand why people use Vioren's Forcefield or Ashenclaw Crest over the Brace at all, unless I have missed something. Prolly because The brace of Fucking Fucklight never fucking drops thanks to the rfucking fuckers with their random fucking number fuckerator.

These changes are just too funny now that I look at some other items.

With maximum Battle Fervor, both the Guard of Drelikus and Shield of Rainbow Hues give 12.6% blocking with adornment. You can add 3% listed blocking using MC armor. Bringing you to a maximum of 16.6% verses a L80 opponent.

Or with Nexona's Supple Dogwood Staff you can have 15% avoidance verses any level opponent without any adornments, gimp gear or AAs.

If they hadn't added more equipped effects to the mythical, I would have had to think about that one more than a second.

But as Nexona gives 15% doge you can't give it to the tank. It is still nice for soloing.

Couple of Noob questions, does sheild ally parse, if so what line is it under.

Secondly am I correct in saying that Sheild ally if maxed out and using a base avoidance of 16 percent, there would be a 60 percent chance to the tank to avoid 16 percent of all incoming damage? Thanks in advance for the help and responses

In ACT right click on the tank name and select avoidance report. You should see several listings like YOU block.

According your second question - sorry, I totally suck with numbers but I am sure someone here knows the answer

Despite it making no sense, you can in fact give dodge modifiers to the tank because it is an uncontested check.

I wouldn't use your base avoidance as that's not what truely translates through Shield Ally. Except for finding your blocking percentage, ignore the persona window and manually count up your uncontested avoidance values such as parry% adornments or dodge/parry provisions. You cannot cause a "miss" for your target so do not count your full base avoidance as shown in persona.

As for the exact calculations, it's somewhat more difficult than that. There is some debate on whether avoidance groups together the same types into one check or not. Personally I have seven sources of avoidance that translate through Shield Ally. Arranged by group there are four different types. At the very least, my avoidance through Shield Ally is three separate checks. To calculate the different checks, it is not as simple as adding the percentages together. If it were, 50+50+50 would be 150% avoidance, where it is only ~88%. Add to the mix, the tank also has just as many checks that supercede yours... but it's very possible that their checks are weaved with our own and not all before our own.

In short, you're not far off... but it's not really like that.
