Default Mortal Coil or Band of Runed Flesh?

For an MT templar... any opinions?

Does Mortal Coil interrupt you often? Is it worth it to eat 5% dmg? Did somebody "investigate"? ;)

Band of Runed Flesh first, IMO. I prefer buffs that are up all the time.

Is there anybody with the Mortal Coil who gives it a thumbs up?

Edit: And why would Mortal Coil not be up all the time? Against Druusk, when you maybe get feared and turned away from the mob, SA is down while MC is up.

My reasoning is that while +1.2% avoidance on the tank is nice, 5% damage reduction is a more reliable way to reduce incoming damage... although I am not kidding myself, neither of the two will reduce spike dmg by a lot. Also, there are generally really good wrist items, while there are only a few good earrings, if at all (Ankexfen is set, Yha Lei Hoops or Mana procing earring or the +2% crit from Chelsith are usually my 2nd choice). As wrists, the Bangle from TnT is set, while for the 2nd wrist slot I usually go for either Polliwog or the Runnyeye bangle (maybe soon replaced by the fabled Veksar one). The +3%spell+heal crit wrist from PR would be another alternative.

But yea, having either +2% heal crit from the ear or 3% from the RE wrist... no big difference. I keep going in circles.

I'm going to side with Mafoe here. As the MT Templar, I chose the Mortal Coil, and use it situationally. I could have gone with the Band of Runed Flesh, but, that small amount of more avoidance for Shield Ally didn't amount to much, versus 5% damage, which makes my job a bit easier when I use it (again, I only use it situationally, I have both the Ankexfen and Yha-lei Hoop earrings that I use all the time).

I went for the Mortal Coil for the reason that my other earrings are kinda crappy, and my wrists are ok, and can get even better if I get one more good ring so I can switch Gift to the Queen over to wrist slot. /shrug

Ofc I hope to get the heart again soon so as to deny Pinski any cool yet unhelpful one-liner responses. >.<

The effect, triggerable, on Mortal Coil eats a group reactive each time the triggered target is hit with melee or spells

even dots...

Even when the damage fails to hurt you (not warded)

So for Templars if you like your group reactive to have 5 charges it not bad.

Trading a 1k reactive heal for 7 damage intercepted from the MT...

Priceless.

Dule was target with effect. *Note the non crit heal, I have 103% heal crit too*

That's awesome. I figured it would eat group wards, but it eats group reactives too? That is priceless.

Actually, I see that as advantage. I have no hard numbers, but it rarely ever happens that my reactives are depleted entirely before I recast them. This means when I get hit for 500 damage because the MT got hit with 10k, I get a 1000 pts and a 500 pts heal out of my reactives instead of just a 1000 pts heal (this is with wards down ofc). Yes, it sucks if the MT takes tiny amounts of damage, but so what. The big hits is what matters. (Btw I didn't see any extra damage from Nexona's magic AOE on me nor any extra damage from Necrotic Disease last night on Nexona, so I am a bit doubtful it really intercepts spells, but I need more data ofc).

And about it eating group wards? Yes of course, why would it not? But it doesn't matter if 100% of the damage eats the group ward, or 95% from the MT and 5% from me eat the group ward. The end result is the same. It also means that the ST ward lasts 5% longer, and that's good because what you really want is to keep the MT up, not keep the entire MT group at 100%. Shifting 5% dmg from the ST wards to group wards / group reactives is imo an advantage.
