Crit mitigation, or lack thereof is the only problem with wearing old gear.

As for the set bp... yeah sorry but 240~ health for a group buff just doesn't stack up to 10% cast speed, even with the serious hit to HP you take from getting the piece. Thats like wearing a thuuga necklace as a brawler/scout instead of the choker.

Though if your group is hurting for health, like a mage group after the expansion, I could see wearing a set BP.

EDIT:

With both sets offering the same 2set though, I don't see us dropping the Boots/Bracers from RoK even with them lacking crit mitigation. Unless the coding is such that you can't receive bonuses from both sets.

I'd imagine you could receive both bonuses, it is just a matter of will both actually mean anything with the aa to increase proc chance and proc chance modifiers (the ability will still cap at double the base proc %)

Some people bitch too much imo. I think even if the armor was perfect according to your standards, you would still be able to find someone who hates something about it and who would then start bitching. I think personally, they should just make gear that keeps the tank at 100% health so long as you're within a 5m range... course then there would be more bitching about how easy it is!

If TSO is anything like RoK, there will be at least one good non-set piece to make a lot of these secondary items anyway.

Right now, only the chest and the boots look like they are better than anything we have. The only saving grace is that 6 piece bonus. I guess it's a 10% increase to base healing on crits, not 10% crit. That might be enough to equip 6 pieces plus the SoH hat.

Could prolly swap on two RoK set pieces, apply the stoneskin buff, then swap them off. It'll reset when zoning, but meh.

True story, but the 7% heal crit per piece is still nice and if the tank dies due to random crit double attack, which will happen, you're hosed on 2% stoneskin till combat ends.

It isn't 10% to crit, it is 10% more healed on a crit. But yes, it is basically the same set.
