Default Returning to the Templar Game

Hello everyone,
I played a templar for about 3-4 years before playing another class for several months and now I'm going back to my temp. I've been doing a lot of research on these forums and I'd just like to get some additional thoughts. My templar is a raider and will most likely be in the MA group (MT as a backup).

Gear: My gear is out of date (mostly EOF) although I have picked up a few ROK pieces. I'm working on shard groups to try and get some TSO pieces there. Any recommendations on what I should get first or any quests/broker items that would be a huge help? I've read the gear post on here as well that mostly covers raid gear to look for. This would be gear I could obtain outside of a raid.

Spec: OK here's how I'm spec'd (after much research):

Cleric:
Agi: 4 4 6 8 1
Sta: 4 4 4 8
Int: 4 4 6 8 1
(I'm considering respecing agi for str to get steadfast)

Templar:
Blessings: 5 3 5 2 3 (and final Blessing)
Cues: Nox (4), Trauma (2), Elem (2) Arcane (2) Group (4), Sanc (5)
(did not go with the last on the cure line, tried it before, didn't
seem that helpful)

TSO:
Unless I add more to the above, I will have 15 points to spend here. Not really sure if i should invest in the general line (although the run speed looks good). Would greatly appreciate it if a few of you could share your TSP spec with me.

Thanks so much for your help!

I would drop int (or the final in int and all of sta) for steadfast.

With the TSO Tree, spend as much as you can there before you spend in cures. You have to have 120 AA's spent to spend in the cleric line and 170 spent to spend in the templar line. You have to have 10 spent in the previous line before you can get to the next and it takes 10 in the line to unlock the final.

As far as gear goes, I really haven't seen a whole lot out of heroic instances that is useful /shrug.

You won't find decent gear on the broker, and most of the quest legendary stuff is meh. Just focus on getting shards until you can raid for gear; some decent fabled items drop in the ToS instances.
Edit: http://www.eq2flames.com/items-equip...instances.html

The Righteous Mithril Epaulets (greater shard armor) gives an 8% increase to base heal amount, which is pretty handy. Altogether, buying both pieces from the NPCs will only set you back 42 shards.

The LootDB stats are incomplete; I suggest taking a peek at the item in-game or on eq2players.

I can't imagine getting rid of the int line and the final spell speed up ability, I use that all the time when all hell breaks loose and I need a casting speed boost for heals. I think I will take your advice tho and ditch agi for str.

Steadfast is seriously overrated IMO. From a temp who did all the solo stuff from the bottom all the way to Moors, and has done all the dungeons, ROK, TSO, etc, and some raiding I can't remember more than a couple of times when I *might* have thought steadfast was a good ability.

Stick with your heal crits and heal abilities, save the STR line if you want melee dps, although you can get excellent melee dps without the STR line. IMO the AGI, INT and STA lines are all crucial for both healing in groups and for dps.

If you plan on raiding alot you need to be steadfast speced. Get endline in str and agi. Then go to Int to speed up casting. With all the gear you will get from raiding any healcrits are gonna be wasted. I am close to crit max on all my gear. If I speced into heal crit I would be wasting points. With all of the TSO/ROK mobs in raid steadfast is mandatory for all templars in my guild. with the casting speed increase through the int line and the gear that comes with ben aclarity + heal crit casting is super fast. Even more so when you get the healing stance from TSO shadow line. There are a bunch of items and adornments/pots that will increase your heal crit but none that will decrease casting time or immune to stiffles/interrupts. Some of the best legs are transcending legs which reduce cast time of all spells not just beneficial spells.

Sta is a gigantic waste. 100% heal crit is easy to get with not difficult to obtain raid gear.

2 questions regarding steadfast:
1 ) is it always on as long as I dont move for 2 second or its some proccing thing ?

2) I get knockback, reset the "standing still" timer ?

thanks :0

I didn't read the OP very closely and thought he was mainly leveling up by soloing and grouping, which I see no need for steadfast for, I couldn't see getting 100% heal crits while leveling up, or anywhere close before TSO.

I've done most of the TSO raids as MH and have never seen somewhere I wish I had steadfast, but I'm not a full time raider and have only done the raids a couple of times each so I will defer to the more experienced raiders on here and their knowledge. It does make sense though if you are at 116% heal crit to respec out of STA to something else so it might as well be STR.
