I should rephrase that better and say the power drain of Yaulp is nicer than the power drain of spamming damage spells. But in groups where I'm going to be intensively healing and not meleeing of course I will turn Yaulp off to get focus and ministration back and manage power.
In those cases I could just switch to casting expertise and fall back on my 30% spell crit from the INT line (only 5 points in it). But by the same token if I'm intensively healing I'm rarely going to be casting any DD's, I would be opting to use any extra power on debuffs and lotto heals. Additionally with every heal spell I'm going to have that spell damage gimp, and don't forget the spell damage gimps in the shadows healing stance. The strength of melee spec besides the power management is that heal spells and/or heal stance do not gimp it.
In that sense if I'm in a group where power is not an issue, you will 99% of the time find me behind the mob doing autoattack, DA, melee crits and flurry. It also serves the purpose of putting me in range of shield ally, since it's one step closer than max range it's not hard to be one step away from shield ally working.
