I've been seeing about 5k, or a hair under. I ponied up for a T2 shard melee suit and it sent my dps thru the roof. I also have my spell crits up to almost 80% and spell damage in the 700's. The Thex Mallet just suits itself to my casting speed almost perfectly, as soon as I am done casting I immediately swing, repeat and repeat.

Trying to get an idea of the ceiling here.

I just parsed on a training dummy:

Duration: 01:08
Total Dmg: 202,408
Crits: 91 (12/12 melee 9/20 non melee)
ExtDPS: 2,976.59
Hits: 136
Swings: 143
Crit Dmg: 67%

Outgoing Damage:
68% Crush
8% Martyr Strike
7% Divine Smite
6% Bolt of Power
5% Waring Deities
3% Greater vampire Bane
3% Divine Judgement
2% Skull Crack

Going to grab a couple soul lancer pieces today and a couple final adornments.. might hit 3200

Am I doing well or am I failing?

Essentially I open with Reproval-Melee-Mark of Divinity-Melee-HO+Skull Crack-Melee-Smite-Melee-Martyr Strike-Melee-Waring Dieties-Melee-HO+Hammer Smite-Melee etc etc etc

I don't have a lot of dps gear, but due to being bored... I'm at 1:25 fight duration with the Heavy Hammer of Hard Knocks (x2), missing especially some armor dps pieces tho.

My highest on the dummy so far is about 3.6k. You melee stats are better than mine by quite a bit lol, but I do better with spells. You really need some luck, wtb Flurry actually going off

Aye, I am wokirng my way towards trying to increase spell damage while maintaining melee DPS.... we shall see.

Flurry.. yes.. it going off can be the difference between a 1.9; and 2.9k parse ;p need for flurry!

Both sets of t2 shard armor and 1 piece of t3 (melee gloves with 40% haste). Both Thex and the one out of x2 + various +haste items that i kept instead of not muting them and MC and DA items. I'm over 100% MC and DA and like 110+ on Haste Self buffed.

I have to agree I like the Thex the best. If you read the dps threads then it's all about timing the CA's/Spells in between swings. Add to that the fact that Flurry is a 15 sec duration buff and you need to get as many swings in within the 15 sec as you can. I'll sometimes use the x2 one when i'm in a group with a Myth'd Illy and bard so the delay isn't painful and when the flurry hits it's pretty funny. But otherwise the Thex while hasted allows for casting in between and getting the most out of a flurry proc. And it has a good dmg proc on it as well for the added dps.

As far as spells? Repent and Reactives on the pull or better yet in between pulls, auto attack on the pull, and during the fight Supplicating Fate, Involuntary Gift and Mark are not beneficial heals that affect Holy Smite aa so I use those during the fights, and if it works then I'll use stun/stifles to keep the incoming damage to a minimum.

Maxed Soothe aa and Overconfidence are a must for instance dps (everything imo) because with repent on the tank and a flurry on the first swing there is no way someone is going to be able to catch up to the 10k+ hp's you just affected even with a M2 Taunt.

For dps i've picked a simple zone and keep track of it. I use Deep Forge in pick up groups as my test. Average 1400 zw and best so far is 1830. Too uber a group and you don't get to swing enough, too sucky a group and you are healing all the time. Sweet spot is myth'd illy and was a troub for me (1830) with a SK to keep aggro. Several fights were over 4500k even in DF that run, I think Flurry was perma proc'd on me. But this is a good gauge, for me at least, when i'm trying out new things in dps gear or aa's. My only "raid" dpsing was a couple months ago on soh trash and i was around 3500 with lava hammer and t1 dps shard armor at that time.

IMO an OT Temp in dps with all the melee group heals going off can be very effective in healing and dps. There is a 4 piece group heal proc and a 5 piece group heal proc on the dps gear. Mix that with other melee based group heal procs and it's effective.

O, and the final Shadow aa's aren't worth the trouble. I have them both, and it gimps you so much to one way with the drawbacks that it makes them impractical IMO. I use the heal one sometimes when i'm really having to heal. But the true test of a dps Temp is how much dps can you do and still keep everyone alive. Someone dieing is a fail, Gimping the heal value isn't bad, but making the cast time longer just doesn't work.

Been working the dps a bit out of boredom as well.

Can hit 3k on training dummy but it depends alot on the flurry procs. And i had to cheat and summon my hammer.

I had the lavastorm hammer for awhile... but didn't like it for the reason i was missign out on a too many swings when flurry was up. Thex hammer is best imo.

Took some points out of KOS AGI line for DA for STR when i noticed I had 135% or so DA with Battle Prowess on. Now at 93% DA solo. Any strong opinions battle prowess vs. casting expertise? Considering dropping STR for AGI to run casting expertise again while keeping my DA ~100%.

With >100DA + >100 MC in groups/raids i've been trying to pimp out my spell crit (currently 70%). DPS mods and STR atribute are currently deficiencies in my setup (MC STR ring is nice for dps mod)

Current stats solo:
103%MC
93%DA
35% dps
68%haste
70%spell crit
340 +spell
STR 666 and INT 548

top parse so far: 2931 (43% crush (86% hit rate/ 100% of them crits) followed by the usual spells))
best parse in raid was 7.2 on palace trash in MT group (raid dps ~130)

good call on the lancer shoulders... gonna pick up a pair myself.


Edit (new numbers with soul lancer shoulders and changing another peice or two)
Training dummy: 3200
Palace trash: top 9.3k (RW 125k) 7k ZW (would of been higher but 2nd dirge afk for half of it )
