Default DPS guide for Templars 2.0 - TSO

ok .... I am not MT templar and therefore have less going on in terms of heals generally speaking so i am endeavoring to contribute to the raid some how through dps.

Questions for all you smarter templars (i am a recent betrayal from inquis....i know and now i want to do dps??? go figure).

1.) 185 aaexp - TSO - WHat is a good generic set up for priest, cleric, tso in terms of specs?

2.) Double Atack vs. SPell Crit vs. Melee Crit? What is the most important stat to a templar for dps?

3.) WHat is the number to try for? Blance of numbers in stats?

4.) Weapon choice? I have Thex mallet

5.) Tricky dick ways of uping your DPS?

6.) BUffs that are key for templars to dps'n?

7.) Last but probably as important - WHat spells do you use while dps'n? AOE's? DOT's? DD?

Group dps and raid dps seem to be different because many times in raids you will need to be in a certain spot and won't get to joust in for melee. I try to get my spell crit/spell damage as high as possible without hurting my healing so I can lob nukes from my designated position. Otherwise I use melee in groups and solo situations.

I'm the mt templar in my guild. In palace the trash doesn't hit hard and the shaman always heals it easily, leaving me free to dps. On Tuesday we did palace and hit alltime highs for me. I had a high parse of 6500 and my zw 4296. I'm setup for dps like an Inquisitor. About 50% of my parse is auto attack. I basically spec to max out my auto attack dmg and between swings cast Divine Smite and Martyr Strike. Make sure you use your Unflinching Hammer any time it's up along with Divine Recovery. I also have a separate set of gear I put on when I dps and use the Lava Wrought Great Hammer (drops in Deep Forge). I'm thinking about testing the Thex Mallet out in comparison next week.

Now for AA's. In my DPS spec I don't take anything beneficial for healing (minus sacrifice and heal stance for those times when you may need it.)

Cleric Tree:
max out double attack
max out damage spell crit and casting haste
take divine recovery
take str line too.

Templar Tree:
max out blessings line
max out holy smites line

Shadows:
make sure to max out yaulp
max out litany of combat and use the melee buff
max out flurry
max out aegolism (i do this to get the most effect out of it even tho no myth)
max out the aa's for the dmg spells
take offensive stance

In order to max out dps in this spec, you need to cast the least amount of beneficial spells as possible. This includes Divine Recovery and Unflinching Hammer in the middle of the fight. If you do then you miss out on the additional dmg to spells from the holy smites line. If need be then you can cancel that buff to get your dmg back but that is a pain in the ass.

So for me ideally I have my hammer up and going in on inc. At that time I'm gonna turn on auto attack asap, and hit Divine Recovery while the debuff to dmg is still on me from casting the hammer (that way the timer for the debuff doesn't get put on me twice). By this time the mob should be in place and I'm on its ass swinging away.

That's pretty much it. This method has worked out for me. Try it out and post back here with the results.

Melee crit vs double attack or attack speed?

What is the point where any one of those has deminishing returns versus adding to another trait?

DPS 50
Haste 170
MC 80
DA 45
SC 35

is my general stats with dps gear and buffs on

Those seem low

Self buffed in dps gear i'm at
DPS 35, Haste: 68
MC: 103%
SC: 70
DA:93%

Spec'd STR 7-8-8-2-1 STA 4-4-8 INT 4-4-8-8-1 / Blessings / Rebuke/ Smite Wraths / and obvious dps picks from TSO

My only debate is what's better +20 weapon bonus from battle prowess or 5% spell damage / critical mod from casting expertise. (could spec back to AGI to get ~100% DA but would loose some spell crit if i did).

As for what stats to concentrate on it probably depends on your group... if you're mage group templar you'll have enough haste so try to up your DPS mod (hard to do... MC str ring, neck adorn and maybe temp weapon adorn i suppose). If you're in the MT group and coercer is willing to give you dps mod I'd concentrate on haste maybe (though near constant cob makes this less important). If you're in scout group betray back ><

I find i'm always lacking in STR unless i'm with a zerker. Always looking for big STR pieces myself. I'm usually in MT group and run dps spec for VP / SOH till maestro/ palace trash.. i'm trying to up my STR and SC / BOE cause in raid i'm past diminishing returns for most melee stats (DA, MC, DPS, Haste (when cob is up)).

As for tricks... timing autoattacks helps. When POM is up spam. I have a hotkey all nukes/ dots on it in order of cast preference which i just click repeatedly with the occasional hammer smite and skull crack to fill in gaps before swings. Use hammer lots (prepull as suggested). Use DR when POM and POTM are up.

Double Attack > Melee Crit > Flurry (Overwhelming Arms AA) > Spell Crit, try to max out DA and Melee Crit.

4.) Weapon choice? I have Thex mallet

Perfect, don't change it.

Warring Dieties will probably be half of your spell-based DPS, while more than half of your total DPS will probably be your autoattack.
I answered what I could; I'm still playing around with my setup as well and I'm doing about 1.8k solo without the Templar Shadow AA's.

What's the best dps adorment for a 2h weapon?
Found the following ones, but never tried them:
1) +14 crushing damage
2) inflicts 366 heat damage instantly and 40 damage every 5 seconds, lasts 20sec (1/min)
3) inflicts 415 disease damage and cancels 17.7% of speed buffs on target (20sec) (1/min)
4) increases attack speed by 25

At my current dps spec I can do up to 2,9k solo dps on a training dummie. Stats seem pretty balanced, just dps could be boosted:
MC 105
DA 122
SC 61
DPS 49
Haste 89

Uhh, Flurry > DA. Flurry is 2-4? extra hits and procs on a flat curve just like DA. So how can DA, which is only 1 extra hit, be better than Flurry?

Adding to that, you get the most out of the Flurry AA (procs only with critical attack) if you're at 100% MC (more against higher mobs). I got the Lava Wrought Great Hammer as well, is there any better 2h atm?
