Default Is Tier1 shard gear worth it?

I recently came back after taking a break since just before TSO came out and currently have mostly ROK instance set and a few ROK raid pieces and the T1 shard gear doesn't impress me. It doesn't provide CrticalMitigation and the resists, while covering all types on each piece, it doesn't add up to much different than the instance gear with my few RAID pieces do in bigger amounts to fewer types, but I can mix and match a few pieces to maximize my resist to specific mobs.

Am I missing something or will I simply be better off, getting enough shards for a T1+T2upgrade for each piece and add T2 items as I go?

Or is there any other new game mechanics that I have overlooked, that gets covered with the T1 stuff?

you dont really need crit mit in heroic instances

otherwise if your gear is better than t1 but worse than t2, just save for t2 and all be good

Thanks!

Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss any new behavior compensated for in the T1 set.

Now of course this lead me to have to read up on the new T3 raidx2 set vs the "OLD" T3 raid set...or is that now called T4... some things I read, probably written before the x2 instances calls them T3..;)

anyways thanks fro the quick reply

Get your shoulders asap, since they have +base heal. The other stuff you gotta compare case for case

Thanks again!!

While it will be a while before I can use those shoulders, I'll definitely start saving my DKP for the molds.

Most of the time you'd be better off using \aITEM -659458117 914569170:Crimson Robe of Alendine\/a for chest slot.

It's easy to farm and if you're lazy it's quite commonly sold, usually quite cheap.

Until you max your casting time reduction/casting speed increase bonus(es). But I've heard that robe is uber if you don't have the raid gear.

Not solo buffed, obvously, but when you take raid buffs and all that stuff and come close to 100%, you don't need the robe anymore. I hit around 85% casting speed (it says something else on my persona window but that doesn't take items into account) with raid an temporary buffs.
