This was before the 100% Melee Crit change when it use to be only like 67% of something like that also so I can only assume now it would probably be a little bit more.

I of course would melee everything and as long as it didn't have a AE that would one shot me I was still in melee range doing melee damage to the mob. This was also always in the MT group and also staying top on healing parses most of the time.
Thats about right! I get about 25-35% of my dps from melee alone.

So what is the sign of a good templar. I think it's just like every other class out there. Knowing your class inside and out. But also being able to react well in stressful situations.

If you want to know if you are a good Healer talk to the other Healers in your group. Don't ask the Fighters, Scouts, or Mages. They can't tell you. All they know is that yeah - they stayed alive.

Ask another healer - they can tell you if you aren't pulling your weight, if you don't help with cures (sometimes it's needed), they can tell you that they wasted too much power because you weren't keeping your proactive spells up - forcing them to go reactive (and waste power to spam heal). When you are with another good healer you can tell, trust me.

Being a good templar means you work with other healers and you can coordinate things without taking it personally or taking offense. You are a good team player. You take advice and try to apply it from your guild officers and other healers who have experience.

Every situation is different, being a good templar means knowing what to do in each situation and reacting quickly, knowing what spells take too long, when to cast your save your ass spells and when to save your power and not waste it because the fight is going to be 20 minutes long.

Being a good templar means taking into consideration those things that all good healers must consider. Heals vs Cures vs Debuffs vs Power conservation. It's about knowing your class and knowing the tank and the mobs and knowing the other healers in your group/raid. And always about learning and striving to be better.

If you do that and are open and honest with yourself and your fellow guild/group/raid healers you'll improve.

But ultimately to answer the question - What is the sign of a good templar?

When people want YOU in their guild/group/raid because they trust you to react well when the shit hits the fan and they trust that you are a consistently good healer when the shit is sorta just lying around waiting to be stepped in.
This was written so well, I just had to register and say thank you >.<

They keep you alive, they prioritise healing, they stick a HoT on your scout/mage ass before you realise you have pulled aggro a second later.

And they do it all with mana to spare, looking for more to do ;)

When the shit hits the fan you should have a plan, know what spells you're going to be casting the next 3 times unless a dps takes aggro and then they only get healed if it doesn't compromise the tank and you can squeeze it in with the tanks heal chain.

Grp + single + emergencies + focussed single reactive all cast in quick succession = insane healing. I always enjoyed single healer groups when things when horrifically wrong I could dump 2.5k healing a hit on a tank for 5 hits. About 2k for the next 4ish. This was a year ago though.
