Default AA for Newbies

There are several threads about how to assign your AA for raiding etc at 70 but I don't see anything about what would benefit someone while they are leveling up.

My situation is that I have combat turned off all the time. I'm completing as many quests as I can as I level. I have iirc 42 AA and I'm level 33.

Since I solo most of the time and since I can reset my AA when I grow up I've been focusing on nukes mostly... as soon as I get the next nuke type spell I put my next 5 points into maxing that spell AA.

I've been doing something that makes me cringe when I think about it but I've almost completed Bishop STR line. I didn't want to give up my shield so that ruled out several options right away. Maybe shield isn't as important as I think it is but I'm soloing/tanking about 95% of the time since I solo and very rarely group.

I was a good cleric in EQ1 but having moved to EQ2 just a couple months ago I have a long way to go before I really understand how things work and (obviously) am pretty clueless atm. Sometimes things are similar and I can apply old knowledge but sometimes I find leaning on what I thought I "know" only gets me in trouble.

As a soloing templar at your level I would prolly go with either a cleirc line that increases your melee dps or the templar smite line to help you level faster.

For non-class specific nub questions about achievements, you may also want to check out the guide I wrote here: EQ2 Achievement System FAQ - Updated for GU32 .

Thanks.

Thank you, Nyax!

LFG, I'd actually read your guide before it has some great info! I'll refer back to it for sure when I grow up and want to respec and can't remember where the heck that NPC is hiding.

you really have a few options, but my advice would be the following

Go smites

get normal smite, undead smite, axiom (DoT), and the AE, then end ability smith wrath

then go to the KoS tree and get spell crits and casting speed maxed, and get divine recovery

this makes all your dmg spells cast fast, crit, and use very little power. As a result you can chain cast them with your melee, and cast a reactive now and then soloing.

After that I'd grab the melee crits to 100% in KoS

a good 2 handed weapon would benefit your damage well, especially one with a big spread of dmg ( x-xxx) and higher delat (3+). This would complement the melee criticals, as well as your longer casting times on heals.

Shields are not that important since your avoidance is destined to be low as hell. Its nice for stats when your in a group just healing, but the benefit isn't that great compared to the dps difference.

GL little jenarie, send me another gnome chair )
