I see that templars are getting a bad name. I acknowledge that inquisitor is a great class with a strong dps, buff and heal package, and their cure advantages are huge since the start of dov. But I think a templar can hold down a raid spot. I am.
I don't feel that I'm all that bad off as a templar. I'm a good healer, and not all that good at dps on any of my alts, even. We're an upper end guild, so our stats are high enough that the inquistor's dps/haste/reuse buffs are not a big deal. But we're also not endgame, so we do not need max dps from all 24 slots in the raid.
The cures are an issue. I sometimes have trouble in group instances where I could easily handle it on an alt with much worse gear than my templar, and I deal with it in my own way. But in raids, I do pretty well paired with a warden on the MT. I cure a lot, but without a two-cure healer in group, there would be issues on some fights. I put out enough raw numbers to justify being the weaker cure.
With gu63 dropping armor that can be worn by both subclasses, I looked at the betrayal option, and decided not to, because I like my prestige abilities with permanently maintainable 9% health reduction and potency debuff, increased repent refreshes, and overall strong healing.
I do think we need some buff/offensive upgrades and especially a second cure, and maybe some mechanics changes with reactives and flurry/ma stoneskins. But that's mostly to be a viable class for other people's alts. Frankly, if someone has a non-raiding templar alt, they need to betray rtfn. But I'm okay as long as I can just raid, I'm with the MT, and I have a good healer in group with two cures. Maybe I'm just really lucky to have a good fit with our build.
You lost me at inq buffs aren't a big deal.
Although I stumbled at inq cures being good since /dov/

Can you elaborate? If haste, dps mod and reuse are all capped, and offer negligible over-cap benefits, and the group proc hasn't gone up that much, then what's left that makes such a huge difference? Their personal dps is pretty amazing, but their buffs have ... decreased in relative value compared to before gu63. Care to educate me on exact groupwide percentage increase?
Prior to dov, inquisitors were better at group cures, but it wasn't game breaking because healing used to involve more than that. I've clarified it in case you are still confused. I'm not debating it.
scouts aren't capped on reuse. mobs debuff stats like reuse. increase to primary stats are substantial. and they have fanatical devotion and strike of faith. inquis is huge for any dps group. that's not counting the double cure.
Templars are not viable for dps groups, and only barely for group instances. But the spot in question would be MT healer. (We'd still have multiple inquisitors in raid.)
The MT group isn't about damage output, but it does need it. Thanks for reminding me that half the group does still benefit from reuse. The primary stat doesn't change much overall. The defiler's 5cb and inquisitor's reuse help, although Templar has a lot more "percentage health reduction". The inquisitor's better dps buffs will be a lot stronger in an actual dps group that can put them to full use, and fitting a templar in gives the raid those debuffs. And you are not going to put the templar in a dps group.
Fd u fucking retard.

double checking my buffs, had the wrong numbers on the health reduction
although I would appreciate it if someone who has raided this expansion calls me a retard.
