Default Crafting question

Not sure if this had been discussed before - but has anyone else noticed certain tradeskills harder than others? I don't mean in terms of number of receipes, but I mean in terms of actually getting pristine on receipes?

Reason I ask? I am levelling a Woodworker and a Carpenter at the same time. They are both the same tradeskill level. The woodworker has to fight tooth and nail for every pristine, but the carpenter breezes through white receipes to pristine without breaking a sweat.

They both use the same level crafting buffs.

I wondered whether it was something related to the toons themselves (race/class/adv lvl/stats etc) - but then I remembered when both toons were working through the craftsman receipes (10-19) so doing both woodworker type receipes and carpenter type receipes - they both struggled with the woodworker receipes but breezed through the carpenter ones.

Has anyone else observed this kind of thing? Has this been discussed before? Is there a sane reason for it? Are there other tradeskills which suffer the same way? Eg. I know my sage never really struggles much with pristines either.

And just for info - none of my crafters have taken any special racial traits which increase crafting ability - nor do they have any items on them which increase crafting skills, so in theory they should all be on a level playing field in terms on crafting ability.

I agree. I have 9 level 70 crafters and have always found a big difference between how smooth and easy the process went based on class.

Easiest of all to get pristine and complete a combine is tailor, by far.

my main is carpenter, i have a jeweler alt. jeweler is lvl 57 only, but its sooooooooooooo much easier to level due to the many recipes.

Carpenter might be a tad easier to combine, but the above difference is what makes leveling faster between the two.

From recent experience, I'm convinced it is much faster to level an outfitter or craftsman post-50 by doing straight TS writs than leveling a scholar without writs, even with the extra discovery exp.

Hmmmm yeah would tend to agree with you as well on the tailor LFG, I have a lvl 70 one too, and he never really struggles for a pristine.

Definitely all the tradeskill classes that get to make spells & CA's have the easiest time in levelling due to sheer number of receipes - but having crafted on all 3 (sage, jeweller and alchy), I definitely found the sage seemed to have the easiest time getting the pristines (leaving aside the odd nightmare combine which they all get, which seems determined to fail no matter what you do) - although even those 3 seem to struggle more than the tailor and the carpenter.

Another weird thing I noticed when doing carpenter, was that same level receipes didn't always give the same amount of xp on a pristine bonus, eg. the carp has to use different tradeskill desks for different receipes. I made a white receipe on the woodworking bench and got about 5% xp for the pristine, then went to the forge, and only got about 3.5% for a white pristine bonus on that......

I agree that out of the nine classes, IMO carpenter was hardest to level, and included the most hassles. But weaponsmith is still hands down the most useless class once leveled.

I think both weaponsmith and armourer suffer once levelled to 70 because there are always better weapon and armour drops in the game which make what they can make undesirable - leaving them only useful for adornment making.

At least most of the other tradeskill classes get to make something else of use that you can't get better from drops - like totems, hex dolls, bags, boxes, potions & poisons etc etc.

Although sages also get a little left out on a limb once ppl have their masters, unlike alchs and jewellers who can make other stuff than Ad3's.

What ever happened to Ilucide's idea of consolidating the TS classes?

Domino is trying her hand at making them all viable first.
