Re: Transmuting Vs Tinkering
If everyone could use tinkered products, there'd be no reason to have more than 1 tinkerer - thus your transmuting argument.
Right now, tinkering is done for the personal benefits, transmuting is more about making money.
I'm a transmuter, but I like what I've seen from tinkerers. I guess you just have to make a choice.
I vote "NO" vehemently to opening up tinkerer items for everyone. You should have to work for the benefits.

It really only takes 1 person to be a transmuter and everyone can get the benefits for transmuting. But with tinkering, I dont even have the option to access the majority of the things that are made.
I dont believe it would hurt the game to allow people to be both transmtuers and tinkerers at the same time. Or at the very least allow ALL tinkered items to be usable by everybody.

Definitely not, they'll just water down the benefits of the items and make them pieces of crap, which would make the profession useless entirely. Now what I might be more in favor of is items that are only castable by the tinker but can benefit several people... like the repair bot, or the exothermic stones (though I don't think those are particularly useful - too little gain on the manastone to be worth a death for any class worth anything, at least compared to other mana gaining items).

Re: Transmuting Vs Tinkering
I don't think they're overpowered, most anything with the exception of the repairbot for tinkering has a large reuse timer to compensate for it's viability. Call of Tinkerer, 1 hour reuse, as compared to a CoH 2 minute reuse timer... that's not overpowered.
Compare the items that are craftable and directly tradeable, craftable but only consignable, and then tinkerer use only. There is a HUGE difference in quality there, and I don't want to see all tinkerer items dropped into the first category, that's all.

Re: Transmuting Vs Tinkering
So allow people to be both tinkerers and transmuters.

Re: Transmuting Vs Tinkering
This game has obviously gotten too forgiving, everyone wants everything and they want it now!
When tinkering and transmuting came out they were "advertised" as skills that were secondary, HARD TO DO (boy has that changed), and that we would only be able to do one.
It's been a year, there's been plenty of time to see what you can do with either skill. If you wanna be able to use the tinker stuff, then be a tinker. It's simple. Mheryl is my main, she tinkers. She gets the benefit on raids, groups, etc. I have an alt transmuter for breaking down the stuff I get, and transmuting for friends and guild. The alt also makes adornments like the vampiric handle that no one else can make.
This game has always been about making choices until people started crying about it. They gave us options now to change our primary tradeskill and change our secondary tradeskill. If you want the tinker items, be a tinker.
