    Default Crafting from home

Is there any way to craft completely (writes and everything) from inside a house? I'm able to use vault slots etc... to hold the fuels and materials and purchased a crafting station and a clipboard.

So with the exception of getting writs from inside the house I have everything I can think of covered. Is there any possible way to grind writs without having to exit my house and visiting a writ giver? I figured i solved everything by getting a clipboard, but apparently not since they are next to useless for grinding writs.

I am always hoping that they will add two things as house items for crafters:

#1 - Gnomish Fuel Supplier - House Item - Merchant for your home that you can buy TS fuels from (At normal market price).

#2 - Essence of Worksmanship - House Item - Ethereal Totem that grants the homeowner crafting faction quests based on their Tradeskill Profession and current TS tier.

Yes i would pee my pants (in a good way) if they added in a way to get writs from home. My basement is a fully complete tradeskiller area with all the machines but much more pleasant to work in, but i haven't used it since the writ system came in .

Pretty please with sugar on top domino! (not that i think its gonna happen from reading the threads on those *other* boards)

There is a "sort of" method of doing a writ at home. You go to the writ giver in the crafting area, you get the writ.

You have to have enough faction to buy a clipboard from the crafting society, then when you get home you can place the clipboard, click it to start the writ.

Big whoop. One writ. Now I get to leave my comfortable South Qeynos home, go all the way to Nettleville or North Qeynos, zone into teh crafting area, and get another writ, go back home, click the clipboard.

If I am doing writs, I do them in the crafting area. If I am working on commissions or stuff to fill up my sales boxes, I will use my very pleasant crafting area in my house.

The house area is actually more convenient in many ways because I can store extra raws and fuel in the house vault.

I think if I am high enough in the Queen's favor to have a noble title and a posh estate, I should be able to hire a majordomo to do silly little things like purchase fuel. Or at least have it delivered to a coalbin or something in bulk!

It might be cool if you clicked on that clipboard, you receive an in game mail with a crafting order. Open the mail to update and then create the items, then click on the mailbox again to turn it in. It's like Fedex delivery and pickup at your home business.

    Excellent idea!

And it's not like they aren't tinkering with the mail for quests. One of the high 60's quests in Kunark sends you a quest update by mail.

So... exactly what use is a clipboard if you have to run back to the writ giver every time anyway? What was SOE trying to accomplish?

maybe the clipboard is work in progress?

...and I LOVE that simple to implement mail-order writ idea.

I fall into that group of folks that WAY prefer to use their house while crafting and that is one of the primary reasons for having player housing imo... but along comes ts writs... and it's back to the ts dungeons just after I finally started working from home most of the time.

At least toss writ givers in places like QH (fuels, broker, bank, mail on tap without zoning)... I like Qeynos and don't want to move to some expansion city... Why are we forced to zone so damn much to have convenience while crafting... it really is mindboggling. With the hell they've put us launch crafters through... 'cmon.

while I'm ranting... Where the fuck is the bank in SQ... how fucking long does it take to put a bank in the ritziest fucking zone in Qeynos!?!? it takes 2 hops to live in the nice house of SQ to get any reasonably equipped zone. FAIL SOE

The advantage of being able to mail from home and not have to zone isn't enough to keep from forcing us back into the dungeons for writs. Hanging in QH is even preferable over my house now.

I do like my portable blowup forge and commission crafting system for the quick combine/tip though. That was really refreshing progress. If I have a pocket forge, why not let us queue a few writs for home, from home? I have plenty of forward planing to have all the fuel and materials I need for a long stint at the forge but... frek I know they look identical (outside of my own creative modifications with other furniture items) but I prefer MY OWN DAMN FORGE that I worked hard to get years ago.

The answer to this has always been something similar to "We want you to make use of more of the game than just one area" meaning that if they gave us everything we wanted in one place (as crafters) we'd never leave.

Now that begs the question of WHY does it matter? If I worked hard to make my house a pretty place, why should I have to leave it if I don't wanna? If everything I need for that aspect of my game life is in one zone, it makes me have more fun, not less.

I definitely think this needs some attention. If a crafter, or an account full of crafters, want to spend the money on pristine machines, enough vault space for harvests and fuel, mailbox, etc, then why shouldn't they be able to do the insane amount of writs it takes to a) level a guild or b) get faction recipes, inside their hard-earned home without zoning every 8 minutes?
