If you don't want to die you can also get to Fens by swimming down the estuary that runs south from the cliffs by the Fens post, under the bridge, and climbing onto land just before the fallen pillar after the gorillas on the beach (it's quite a long swim so remember your arm-bands!). You can then weave easily around the mobs heading north to the Fens entrance... it takes about 10 mins longer that the suicide run!
As a general rule of thumb when wandering around RoK on foot if you stick to the paths and trails you will only encounter a couple of roaming mobs which can be easily skirted around if you keep your eyes peeled.
