So on the topic of transmuting costs. WTF happened to fragment prices, pre ROK they were like 2cp for the first 3 tiers of fragments. Then they like skyrocketed to 90sp even over 1g each for a freaking fragment. As far as I can tell the mechanics for transmuting didn't actually change with RoK. So i'm wondering where the price spike came from.

People are smart and know with xpac lev will raise so transmuteing level will raise. With that there will be a market of those that will raise their muteing level and those that want adornments.

In short words supply and demand same as anything in game.

If I was smart I would have filled my bank full of 2cp each fragments, so that I could resell, them at like 98sp each for like an almost 10,000% markup.

Damn me for not thinking!!!

EQ2 is worse then the Dow Jones!!

I camped the broker and set my filter to 250sp...

I got stuff from 1 - 39 pretty reliably, and was able to sell back what i didnt use and actually i've turned a fairly healthy profit doing that.

All you do is see what the frags are selling for then lower your price by a couple gold (in the higher tiers) and buy them out... mute em and put the frags / powders on the broker, you'll turn a small profit and be able to afford the lower tier stuff to mute for xp.

Sorry for the double post, i missed this one...

It was cheaper and more effective to play the broker and do my own mutting - and really when you look at it, its faster too. i would wait until i got several of each then just sit down and grind it out, so i got like 60 T1 powders and 40 t2 powders and blah blah blah... i'm at 375 and it took me only about 5 days of playing the broker.

Don't spend money leveling transmuting! Eeek!

Go harvest T1 like crazy - Timorous Deep is good for this.

Use the copper, lapis and solidified loam to make T1 Adept 3 spells. Break those to get powders.

Use bronze and waxed pelts to make T1 armor, then break that to get your fragments.

Then do T1 transmuter combines over and over. Rinse and repeat to 400.

Well I guess transmuting sucks less, when I guy says he wants 500 Ulteran Powders and/or Aether powders and you are also an 80 sage. Especially if said guy is paying 15g per powder . Let me see it costs about 2-3 gold to buy a rare mat to make a T1 Adept 3 book.....

Whoohoo hours of making books at the engraving table, here I come!!!

Ok, I'm really confused. I downloaded transmuting guides some time ago and they say you won't get any experience making items (I do tempers) that are grey but the above reads like I can max transumuting by just working the lower tiers. Alsom, I can transmute legendary and adept IIIs? Was that always the case? Man, I have got to read more!!

Default Re: Transumting and the suck!

transmute items to get to skill 100
create tempers and whatnot to gain skill over 100
there is a 'floor' on the posibility of a skill gain for a grey combine - maybe like 20%
the 'ceiling' on the posiblilty of a skill gain on a colored combine is maybe 25-30%

so - don't waste your higher level shards and powders doing skill up combines unless you have to. Harvest T1 nodes for rares (you'll find you get more). Create MC gear and spells with the rares - 'mute them to fill up your stock of Lapis shards and Ultarean powder. Create T1 adorns to gain skill.

At T1 - any crafter can create MC gear from any rare. TS revamps mean you have to pristine stuff now which sucks, but it beats dumping all your plat buying adepts that are being priced higher cause 'transmuters will pay for them'

Yap after reading this thread i tried by myself - and it works fine. When powders are cheap i buy them and else i buy t1 rares for spells. Takes a bit of time to make those A3 on scribing skill (since i am weaponsmith) but a rare costs 60sp and a powder 14gp - and that makes the difference. you get a powder of infusion out of a A3 - making a legendary adornment consumes 1Fusion 1Powder 1Fragment (fragments are very cheap so i buy those always) and returns 1 powder - so I skill fine and cheap - only thing about it is time - reached 320 so far
