Default Transumting and the suck!

OK, so no matter how you look at it, Transmuting is going to take your bank account out and have rough sandpaper condom anal sex with it.

That as a given, is it worth trying to do "equal level" transmutes (after 100 points of course) for skill? Or should you just say screw it, and make level 1-9 junk over and over and hope for the 1 in 5 skill point increase?

Never could figure out which was more economically wise.

I did the 1-19 crap, by farming names on an alt, so I didn't waste alot of coin

I did 20-29 and 30-39 mostly because the cost was the same for the 10-19 items. It only cost me around 80 plat to get to max. I didn't find the skill up's very far between and it took far fewer items in the long run to get to max.

I retired my transmuting some time ago when i reached t6 .. so it's true that it doesn't matter if you craft grey or coloured stuff? You can max out with lvl 10 stuff?

Yes you can max out doing grey con combines. I broke down as much stuff as I could to hit 100, then used all the byproducts to begin skilling up.

I tend to do 30-39 the prices are the same as lower tier stuff, I seem to get more powders from the treasured, and if I'm short the legendary stuff from RE is available extremely cheap. Also the legendary adorns actually seem to sell, so I get a little money back.

I got my transmuting to max in about a week of 'hardcore' T1 mob grinding... I mentored a level 9 alt and massacred mobs for hours on end for the transmutables. Probably not the most conductive approach if you're trying to retain your sanity, but I barely spent any money. I had to buy through t5 because it sucked so much for drops. Something like 20p *max* total for that. Pretty sure I spent less, but I was also given some items. My wonderful guildies (and boyfriend) helped in Tier 8 as well with donations.

A hint, tier 1 legendary recipes consume a powder, but they give that powder back if you make it pristine. Also keep in mind that adept 3s transmute as legendary and will give you a fairly high rate of infusions.

I did the 1-9 route as well. My bf was playing at the time and leveling up a warlock so I had no lack of stuff to 'mute. I always buy and save the cheap powders and frags when I see them too for later leveling.

So it seems the general consensus is "do whatever is cheapest" since 1-9 and 10-19 might flip flop in price on the broker (assuming you are buying mats rather then farming)?

I don't feel like farming and breaking down treasured items, i'd rather just go farm something that sells, and buy the dusts and fragments.

I've tried several ways, I've mentored alts and farmed low level items, I've farmed items on my conjuror to give to my transmuter, and I've also just farmed for cash to buy teh cheap stuff on the broker to transmute. Eventually got my transmuter to 375 which is good enough for now!
