I think there was a divergance on implication of what people are pertaining to be legal. Legal in this case was pertaining to criminality. There is no way you can be criminally charged with selling plat.

The EULA legally is a document for ownership purposes mostly stating that SOE owns the game and gives a set of rules governing what could make an individual be subject to termination from their "lease." That right no one owns their character except for SOE. If you were to own this as property gain assets and sell them it would draw an impossible amount of tax situtations which I don't think the average player could handle or anything SOE would want to handle.
