Potions and poisons are something that almost everyone uses, and they are consumable, so they need to be replaced on a regular basis. Raiders use the MC ones, "regular" folks generally use the common crafted potions. Think about making the Alchemist, as several of the above posters have suggested. Plus alchemists make sweet adornments. The +to HP and Power ring adorns and the + all stats for the BP are used by everybody, regardless of class. Although as a Mystic you might not use potions and poisons all that much, you will definitely make good use of the adornments you create for your gear.

Also, think about creating another charecter and leveling a Jeweler or a Sage. The reason is to have another character who can create Ad3s to produce dusts for your alchy. I don't play anymore so I'm not to sure what the economy is like, but I used to make between 50 - 100pp a week selling adorns and potions/poisons with my Alchy (on Nektulos). Some of the weeks where major quested items were being obtained, such as the Thugga line with Neck and Rings, were crazy. Just using Thugga as an example, it probably tripled how many adorns I sold. Everyone was getting new items and wanting them adorned ASAP.

All things to consider.

Thanks for the help and info guys

Always nice to get more opinions on things

I am also obviously not ungrateful for the help i have gotten in other places

Picking the right tradeskill (and the right class for that matter) is very important to me as im not a huge fan of playing alts. I prefer building up and doing all that i can on 1 character, instead of jumping around like a jojo between many different ones, and as such having multiple tradeskills is not an option, at least not now.

I will propably go alchemist

I'm the same way, I grind em one at a time. It just feels half-assed otherwise.

I forgot to ask, which secondary skill should i get as a maybe-will-raid mystic ?

Is tinkering "required" for raiding, or will i be just as well off with transmuting ?

The teleport to maj dul (or something) item doesnt interest me, traveling is fairly quick anyways, and being a fae mystic i dont need any of the slow fall or water breathing gadgets

I have almost an entire 36 slotter full bank full of treasured items i have been saving since level 1, in case i decided to go with transmuting, so i should make up my mind soon

Tinkering has a lot of semi-useful goodies (scenario dependent), and isn't terrible to level.

Transmuting is a very expensive seconday, and the stuff you make doesn't really sell until you get to the 70s (which will more than likely take you a while to get to). If you have a lot of plat that you just cannot figure out how to spend, then you might be interested in transmuting. The really nice thing about having a maxed transmuting skill is that on the occasions that you get a legendary/fabled drop that is no trade, you can always take advantage of the option to transmute it.

I'd recommend tinkering to most people though. Transmuting is a lot of work, and is very expensive (and no, the ROI does not outweigh the costs imho).

Something that needs to be said at this point...

There is not 1 trade skill that is "cheap" to level. If you have the plat, you can level any tradeskill fairly quickly ( at the cost of harvestables ). Or, you can harvest everything yourself, which really will take a LONG time.

I say this because I am reading "get rich quick" or "I am required" into your line of questioning.

I can tell you straight up, if you know how to play your class well ( or better ), no amount of tradeskilling will be required.* Conversely, if you suck at your class, no amount of tradeskilling will get you into a raiding guild.

*Some guilds require tinkering for raiding ( which the exception of a couple "muters" ), however, I've not heard of any guild who pays/reimburses people for up'ing their tinkering.

To be honest, worry about leveling and your primary tradeskill now, worry about muting or tink'ing after your in the 70's. Being new to the game, doing otherwise is just silly.

Just my thoughts...

QFE

This is why I quit trying to help, there is no answer that would make the OP happy.

Tinkering > Transmuting. Just make friends with someone that groups the same hours that you do and is at transmuter. After you have farmed a zone enough to not needs it's loot then let him/her loot all the stuff to transmute.

Tinkering has a ton of situational uses.

I'd go woodworker, sage, provisioner, or alchemist with your given class. Prolly sage or woodworker(arrows sell really well, specially top tier).
