    Default Adding a second floor?

I'm trying to add in a second floor in my home in gorowyn. I've got the basic idea of how to do it, but I want it to look nice as well. Has anyone ever done this and does anyone have tips and pointers on the best items to use and how to make it look good?

I'm thinking Large Flat things FTW. Probably things made out of Wood if you want it to look like a floor

with things being scalable with the new update I'm guessing you can make flat things very big to make this a lot easier

I tend to use Sandalwood platforms for the basic second floor. Unfortunately they have no graphic from beneath so you have to create a false ceiling below them using rugs. There are only a few rugs however which have a graphic from beneath so false ceiling options are also limited.

If you want the second floor to look like a mezzanine then use Indium cage bars along the edges to created a barrier or if you prefer to create a real room then use the new room dividers as walls.

There are several options for creating stairs to your new level, briarwood benches seem to be the most popular option for this and can be positioned in such as way as to create straight, angled or spiral staircases.

There's a list of rugs and their properties on eq2traders.com.

Some people don't mind things being see-thru from the bottom but it bugs me so I tend to use rugs.

Most popular stairs these days is the coffins, but I prefer the small briarwood chests. Perhaps because I live in Neriak and the large house layouts are awkward, with very little area to put a staircase that isn't smack in the middle of a room or blocking a doorway. I also prefer the color of the wood.

I guess the biggest deal to me in any decorating is getting things even; if you have to overlap be careful where you do it so the merging texture oddness isn't too prominent; and not doing things to just fill up a space, but have a theme or goal in mind.

All that being said, it's all changeable so just experiment and have fun with it!

Does anyone have an opinion on the "best" houses to use for making a housing masterpiece? Is there a best? Obviously the 1 room's are useless, but I was just wondering if there was in fact, a commonly thought of "best" housing layout.

    Evil/Good options too pls.

That's all down to personal preference. I really love the 5 room house in SQ. I have 2 toons living at 4 Bayle Court. The main room is large enough for you to add a second floor to it if you wish (btw I use Sandalwood platforms and Rough Linen Rugs as floors).
I don't have any evil toons with a 5 room house, but I really do like the Freeport 5 room houses which have a much more unique layout to them. I plan to get one soon and have a go.

I'm not keen on the Neriak houses, although you have plenty of ceiling space for added floors in them. The Gorowyn houses are quite cool, but the shape of them make things harder to lay things out. And the less we say about the Kelethin Acorns the better!

I had a 2nd floor in my 2 room next to the courtesans in Jade tiger's. Oggokian chairs made a nifty stone staircase... 4 years ago

My favorite houses to work with are the five room qeynos houses and the reverse five room floorplan in fp available at 1 compassion road in nfp, however, if I Gorowyn houses were more easily accessible and convienient to get to, I would want to decorate in those every time.

There are many things that can be used for adding a loft. I like the Swiftcloth rugs. They make excellent second story floors as the graphic from both sides is visible.
