Default Pricing your MC gear.

I know that used to if you are making MC for a client, the gold standard was 3gp/tier per item, they supply rares. I usually just say donations and hope for the best, but I rarely make MC for clients in game, I just throw them on the broker.

Lately I've been using the above model and add into the cost the amount of the rare. So if it's a level 32MC, I'll do 3gp x 4(tier) + say 20gp if that's what I bought the rare for = 32gp. If I harvested the rare, I'd use the average price on the broker as the rare cost.

So, my question is this ... how do YOU price your MC gear and how do you feel like it's working for you?

And, a side question, what artisan class do you think is the most profitable in regards to productivity (profit margin/time invested)?

I basically make nothing on my sage; my jeweler seems to do best. It sucks (for profits) when masters are so prevalent it's cheaper to buy a Master I than the rare to make the Adept III. On the other hand, there's no artisan class faster to level than a sage.

Default Re: Pricing your MC gear.

I generally charge 150-200% of the average broker price for the rare material on my armorer. I've quit stocking t1-t4 armor since the leveling changes.

My goal market is buy it now Alts of higher level characters though

This is the golden question, but truthfully there is no answer.

I've got a Sage, Provisioner, Jeweler, Alchemist, Woodworker..... I'd say it's more knowing the market than anything else.

Everything has it's drawbacks and positives. woodworker and provisioner your would certainly deal with more volume, but on the plus side the raws are all common (for the consumables). With my sage, when rares were made more common in the higher tiers I had quite a bit of plat sitting on the broker, I had bought the rares off the broker. But much like the stockmarket, things can go up or down. When rares were increased price went down on the rares by half (ouch for me). However, you can maximize your profit if you find your own rares.

I made the most plat on my jeweler. But, theres a reason. I made my jeweler on Nagafen , everything is more expensive there. But I found my market niche. Which was mainly that characters would pay good prices on the broker to twink there toons. I played an adventure character (same jeweler). I know one thing, I bought everything on the broker there. Except for the rares I used to make the $$$. Heck, in a few months very casually I made 100+ plat there.

Would I be able to do that as a jeweler on PVE? Probably not. At least not as the stats were on jewelry back then. Filling those holes in demand though, really is where it is. On my sage I found a niche too. A wizard nuke I think. No one was ever selling them. I think I got as much as 5 p for an adept III of it. (though others caught on and it went bust). But when you find those empty spots and fill them is where most of the profit is.

Also, theres usually more gaps in the lower tiers as people tend to think all the money is in the high tiers. ;)
