Maximizing DPS

ok, so i just started playing my troub on raids, i got most my eof relic, other then that im rolling with instanced loot + my SOD and a gardner crafted DW, i am trying to maximize my dps. with a illus/lock/wiz/necro/fury i am hitting about 1300zw in mmis.
my cast order is
Claras
Mental debuff
perfect shrill
Eli's
noble blade
dancing blade
Rhythm blade
i usually will use alin's before essence, and if its a longer fight ill throw up Kian's, i rarely use sandra cept for getting swindlers.

also when do u all use potm? i tend to throw it up if there are 3+ mobs, always after wizzie does frigid gift. usually if one mob dies reducing the number of mobs to 2, and gift has ran its course i stop spaming debuffs and aoes and start useing single.

just curious how u guys do things, anyone use a diff casting order? use potm differently? wtb input thanks

Move Rhythm blade up, since you'll be autoattacking a few times during all that casting without the bonus from rhythm blade. Clara's on incoming is also a bad idea, IMO, unless you lack a decent bow since the mob will likely take its time pathing to your tank and you'll be non-engaged for several seconds.

I usually do something like:

Bow shot (ranged autoattack)
Kians
Rhythm blade
Dancing Blade
HO
Mental Debuff
Perfect Shrill
Noble Blade
Eli's
...

Depends if your raid has a monk or not. I've been using Sandra's a lot more since we've included a monk due to casting spells faster. Also, it probably won't suck in RoK so you'll probably be using it a lot more in a month or so.

Usually pre-pull since we can now move while using it. This way I don't stand there for 2 seconds doing nothing on incoming.

right on dant thanks for the insight, one thing you confused me about was when your talking about sandras, did u mean essence + monk = good dp, cuase sandra is a CA so im confused on how a monks spell haste effects it.

It affects it because he's casting Eli's, Kian's, etc faster, so there is suddenly a time when you've got nothing but Sandra's up, or your Roundshield attack (you can make a macro to equip the shield, and then assign your most used CA/Spell to reequip your offhand after 5 seconds).

Spell haste affects CAs as well.

It does make me laugh how many people seem to think that doing good DPS is something you can be told how to do. It's not, it's something you have to learn and get a feel for. Tips are all well and good, but the best way to do it is to try different things yourself.

Sure you can be told how to DPS. What are you smoking? I don't remember mashing buttons requiring any skill O_o. I think soloing with a troubador requires some skill, and there are certain responsibilities of a troubador in a raid setting, but mashing buttons can be done by anyone. If you would like, we can dub you the king of the mashers.

My point was that you can tell people that you should time your CAs/Spells inbetween your auto-attack swings, but you can't teach them how to do that. It requires getting the 'feel' for it.

You can tell people that the best cast order is A, then B, then C etc But how many people are going to remember that? Everyone does things differently.

Your actually wrong, this is not abstract, this is not a pliable art form. This is all math here. I went over my cast order with Dants and Ballads and a few other a couple months ago, and I was well over 1k ever since I came up with a good plan/strategy/order. Also who is in your group is gonna be HUGE as well. This is math and sequencing, that is all, it is a cool game we all love, but nothing more, don't kid yourself.

Secret to troub DPS isn't a secret.

Get a shit ton of Spell Proc'ing gear. Voila.

Wish I hadn't sold the original Cracatoa/Perenor. Fucker had everything possible pre-EoF (including 2 Rings of Supremacy). Ah, those were the days.
