Default Hello, and a little advice?

Lyrako, on AB, Vermin. nice to meet yah.

Any advice on how to boost my soloability? since graduating into RoK content I'm finding it exceedingly difficult to quest alone. its incredibly frustrating since I game to quest. I'm lvl 77, my gear is all treasured/ledgendary/mastercrafted. I use that crystaline short sword and dark linger (still). My DPS solo is about 700. I'm guessing from what I've read that this is not normal. what am I doing wrong?

Default Re: Hello, and a little advice?

There was a thread in the troubadour forum on station.sony.com a while ago, from which I took the following advice (and for me it worked a charm):

I solo'd my way in RoK from about 68 up to 80 by putting 4-4-8-8 into STA and 4-4-8 into AGI, which increased blocking and parry nicely, and constantly used a shield. The difference is huge; no kiting necessary. With a good pull (no adds) and the help of PotM it let me solo yellow (+1..2 levels) one-ups, which is all you need for solo quests in RoK.

I usually pulled with bow and a following shrill (sometimes vice versa), then debuffed the mob (despirited proc, devigorating discante, chaos anthem). After this, the mob begins to miss more often (-skills) and the hits don't hurt that much anymore (-STR). Can keep the mob stunned during debuffing by a shield bash. After this a couple HO's, especially a nice Cheap Shot/(run forward)/Bump/Clara's/Shrill combo, which nets to about 1/3 of a mob's health, or more if you crit. Could have to put a point or 2 into Enhance: Cheap Shot to make this land reliably. Jester/PotM yourself before tough pulls (1-up's).

I didn't have good equipment either (new to the server), it was comparable to yours.

First, get a good bow because you'll use it more than your weapons when soloing.

This is generally what I do on a solo mob:

(Pre-Pull)
PoTM
JC Self

Bow Shot
(Start Kiting)
Snare when mob gets close
Shrill
Bow CA
Eli's
(End Kiting)
Rhythm Blade
Cheap Shot
Bump
Night Strike
Dancing Blade
(Start Kiting)
Shrill
Snare

Something along those lines should be able to allow you to kill solo mobs while rarely getting hit hard.

Edit:

Also, Charm is your best friend when soloing. A lot of times I'll charm a mob, send it after my target, have them battle it out for a few seconds and burn it down before charm wears off. When charm breaks, use the above strat to kill that one.

Thanks guys. I have been kiting on tough pulls, but to be honest I've forgotten about my roundshiled. (carried one from level 40 right up to 60-somthing when I was unable to find a decent one)

I actually still tote around raincaller for the ranged stun in kiting. (an absolut must for me if I intend to try and solo any ^, nevermind a yellow con one!!!) hoping to find a t8 stunning bow soon if one exists.

My solo tactic isn't the best, but it isn't one mentioned so far.

I have to keep Aria of Magic turned off. I open up with mez. Then, land all of my debuffs right off while the mob is mezzed. Then, I can stand toe to toe against the mob and kill it.
