Timing autoattack is a good way to lower your DPS.

So, wait, am I reading it wrong or do you play a Troub by mashing the buttons?

tried it out once, but I guess I'm not made for this ^^ Maybe if you are an assassin it could up your dps, but for me it screwed it - so yeah, mashing buttons and chain casting all the way. But any advice is appreciated!

Indeed, the only rule I used to follow is Never use any 2s-cast ability if auto-attack is about to happen.
But even that has become pointless with the various haste procs which will screw up any attempt of doing so.

It'd make even less sense for an assassin to do it because most have poise and have lower casting times than you do.

To really get the best dps, when you are mashing try using your elbows.
