I volunteered to start a Trouby for my guild and now that he is in his 70's I slowed down to learn the nuances of the class. After scouring the boards here I got a lot of good information on casting orders, AAs, JCap'in, and etc. So thanks everyone for that.

However, on the issue of gear I am a bit confused. I see a lot of things like:

"Double Attack, then melee crits, then spell crits, then +CA damage, then +spell damage."

Then I see a lot of people saying they mainly choose the spell-crit gear and focus on the intel which seems to contradict the "order-of-importance" listed above. I want to contribute to the parse and don't want to just be a buff-bitch...sooo yea. Or, is it just a personal preference...damn, is that clear as mud?

Can anyone throw me some wisdom on this--I am running around with a ton of gear I am scared to sell 'cause I don't want to end up needing it down the road.

I dont know how a raid full with mythicals changes the balance, but before that you will likely find that a even 50-50 balance of melee/spells is the optimal for DPS.

Gear is easy to come by when you're 80, have done most questlines and farmed the instances a while. So no need to keep any gear that has less than say 2% crit or 2 double attack or 50 +spell/CA. Later on you will have combinations of those on most your pieces (not talking about raid loot).

Until then though you'd be a fool not to rock MC armor, STR ring and some cheap RoK jewelry from broker when you find it, I'd say.

You'll pretty much be at 100% haste all the time and get more of the illy buffs than you normally do due to their free conc slots. So, since your melee ability goes up, you'll want to spec to accentuate that.

Prior to that, I focused most on spell crit gear, spell dmg and +dps items/adorns.
