Long time ago I have made some test runs for song of magic (Dove Song) in T7.
For MMIS magic hit rate for my group was about 96.5 without Dove and about 99 buffed. I have decided that about 2.5% dps increase for mages in my group is a good option. I have not run any test in T8 (since I'm playing wizard right now) but I recommend to run skill buffs for troubs in my guild.

You're wasting your guildie troubs' time. Parse some T8 stuff before you recommend to them to run song of magic for your 1% dps increase. Also ask him what buff he's dropping to give you your 1% increase. If he's dropping haste for example because of your assumptions he may be losing alot more than 1% for himself and likely the other melee class in your group. You might not notice the difference on yourself, but there are likely 2 or more toons in your group losing alot more dps than your slight gain.

and if said troub is in a caster group? If it's a Fury, Troub, and 4 sorcerers.. wouldn't the 1% for the 4 sorcerers and 1 fury be > than the dps the troub loses?

No, I suppose in that situation you are correct. I just wish my guild leader was dumb enough to have me as the only melee dps in the mage group.

what you do is look at parses and bust balls over you doing more melee dps than "the melee scouts" hahahah arm is mine bitchies

plus if i refuse to cast song of magic till i get 4 piece from vp, the mages wont go against me on it
