Default Roundshield vs. Dual Wield

I don't post here, usually. This is actually my first post on these boards, but I do read them avidly.

So what I'm looking for is your opinion on using a roundshield or going duel wield. I recently got the Wardancer Roundshield from VP and looking for some input.
I appreciate your time, thanks guys!

Stick with 2 weapons, its that simple.

Chance at 4 attacks vs chance of 2 attacks is basically the bottom line.

There isn't a big enough 1her to combine with the shield to make up the difference lost compared to using 2 weapons.

Dualweilding will be better DPS in just about every possible gear/buff/AA setup. And a shield really has no purpose for a bard that's not tanking (or soloing).

What if you're not concerned with maximizing your personal DPS? I've designed my troubador Accelerando to support the group/raid as much as possible, and I've taken the STA line for the 10% double attack. I often group with melee characters and I would think the bonus that provides them would make it a good choice. Is that wrong?

Thanks for the opinions. I'll most likely just swap it in for soloing and the like.
I usually dual wield my mythical and the segmented serrator. I'm hoping for the marrow's song on our next hate raid but we have been very unlucky on getting it to drop. We have only seen it drop once for us out of the numerous trips there.
Any other suggestions on weapons to dual wield with the myth other than marrow's song? Maybe something a little more attainable that would qualify for VP raiding?

Another question that has been bugging me.....

Do you go with mostly spell crit gear over melee crit? And what about DA, attack speed and dps gear? What's the order of priority? I have been trying to stay balanced out with the gear that I have but should I lean more towards a particular one?

Here's a link to my threads. Minus the jboots that it's showing, lol. I wear the Trooper Scale Boots.

You will see far better returns from melee gear then you will from Spell gear. Melee+CA's can make up 60-70% of your damage. The leaked TSO AA's seem to lean more towards spells and the gains to spells from gear will get better but it will still lean towards melee, just closer and more room to play as get close to caps in other area's.

I haven't heard/seen the new gear, so this is all speculation, but imo, to replace high end melee gear that we use now, they'd need upward of +10-20% spell crit on items = not gonna happen.

SOE went way overboard on autoattack and buffing autoattack that I think the only real way to balance troubador gear where a mix of spell crits/melee gear would be viable is to nerf autoattack or give a +30% innate spell bonus to troubadors.

The main problem is our spell damage from EoF to RoK only increased about 30-40% while our melee increased 300-500%.
