hey guys, been almot two years since ive raided on my troub...should i be focusing on melee or spell DPS more? back then we were more spell, but what about now?

List of importance on blue stats.


Melee Crit Bonus

DPS mod
Base CA dmg
CA boe

(casting/reuse speed somewhere in there but I doubt you will have to worry about that for awhile. I would put the two above DPS mod but below double attack, hard to distinguish which is better with casting/reuse as we suffer on both.

Definitely more melee these days. Pre GU 52 spell crit and base dmg were huge as they effected procs. Now they are pretty shit.

Even the Murky Gemstone Choker from tyrannus is a better neck than bloodthirsty choker. It defies all logic but I swear the murky parses so much higher.

There is also a 100% chance to confuse effected with affected like ALL the time. :P

More on the subject, why do you value Spell BOE less than CA BOE?
As they pretty much come in pairs and I seem to cast more and higher hitting spells than CAs?

Asked this question over in the gear thread, but will ask here as well.

Just a few days ago (post GU 52), a guildy bumped into a troub that was parsing 10k on non-raid trash. My guildy was curious and asked this troub how he was doing this. His response: screw DA/Melee crit and go all out magic crit.

I had been basically following Gulpen's order not by reading this thread, but looking at my parse and seeing pierce/slash was doing 2/3 of my damage. I assumed (since I have a pierce and slash weapon in each hand) that boosting my melee crit and DA would boost my overall dps.

Seems to me that (based on this thread) the melee/DA approach is still favored. What do ya'll think of this troubs approach? (I wish my guildy could remember his name, I'd look him up and ask questions myself).

If you balance spell crit with your gear you'll see your dps increase, but it's better to focus on spell crit after you've capped, or near capped your MC/DA...

If you have access to avatar gear, you'll more than likely be in that position, otherwise you'll see a drastic decrease in damage by going spell crit over MC/DA.

You also have to consider if that's an AE or single target encounter, because parsing 10k single target takes some gear and a bit of skill, whereas parsing 10k on an AE encounter is fairly simple.

I'd suggest sticking to being a bard instead of a hybrid mage. You joust in and out hitting with your weapons...

Haven't posted a parse in here yet, thought this would be a good one. Spiked up to 8k early in the fight, maintained 7k+ but died three times... Can definitely do better, but overall it wasn't too shabby.
