Zerker in raid goes a long way to help that problem.

I dont wear a haste item in raids anymore since my haste in mage group is over 200 most the time. +CA and +Spell dmg mods should come on gear without you having to concentrate on getting it.

General rule of thumb is if your assassins want an item, you probably want it too.
wtf do u do with melee crit ?
only time u melee is vs a ranger, u need spell crit!double attack!int!sta!

Spell crit is very low, not even notisable, and ca/spell modifier the same..
Ofc I dont have acces to Avatar, Trak, Byzola or Maestro lewt, so this it what I get from what I can get..
Maybe it will change a little with TSO, but I am not sure I will try to put DA above MC again..
Gosta, you are also the guy that does Ice Lash and Strike of Faith when you apparently had neither a Wiz or an Inquis in your group, so I take your "observations" with a good grain of salt.

So because I dont remember what groups I get, and post a ss that does not mach my memory, everything I say is wrong now
Not easy to be a newb in here for sure..

Anyways, I DID notice an increase in my dps with MC, so now I'm sticking with that, and will just try to get more DA, SC and DPS mod without loosing to much of my MC..

Ok... first of all, the test Gosta did gave the same resulte for me with higher MC then DA. But i'm not saying that this will bee the same in general for all trouba's

Secound i think i will do it like this MC-SC-(DA/melee/spell-mod) but imo it is hard to get spell mod up around cap for me if I use the gear that givs the grp/raid the most. and as the buffclass we are, I put my fellow raiders before me.

Default Re: Gear: Spell or Melee Crit?

I generally run 40-50% DA, 40-45% MC, 30% SC, 500ish SD, 700ish CA, and 79 haste outside of raids. Now when I get a few more shards I'll give the Harmonic shoulders a run and see.

After killing numerous training dummies I still cannot tell you whether DA > MC or MC > DA. Either are important just find a balance. SC is somewhat /meh, it helps but it wont break you either. Plus CA/SD is needed but to a point and not to where you're loosing MC/DA.

I'm still trying to figure out where you guys are getting +200 haste and > 70 DA. In my best raid groups I'm never > 165 haste even wearing the Harmonic Museweave gloves and my DA is never > 60% static. My gear doesn't suck but my gear setup is not for all out DPS, if I die the group looses buffs. Onoes. Even swapping out gear I can't see where you're getting 70% DA, unless you're factoring in proc items.

To answer the OP, MC > SC.

For the most part Ballads wont steer you wrong on aa spec and what to choose for priority. Unfortunately most can't kill or get the gear they can so it may be rough to get the numbers they may suggest. I personally run a higher melee crit than DA, but I always look for ways to up my DA. So much depends on group make up and the gear that is attainable by your guild.

Most likely as your guild progresses through the raid zones you will change how you do damage as your gear gets better. Unfortunately troubs aren't set in stone on how they can achieve high dps numbers like some of the other classes. There seems to always be a debate on how to best outfit yourself.

Default Re: Gear: Spell or Melee Crit?

The answer to Spell Crit Vs Melee Crit is simple yet complicated.
It depends on a huge list of factors many of which seem trivial but in actuality add up.

Factors that lead to spell damage being more important
Wizard in group
Assassin putting poison proc on you
Illusionist in group without mythical not giving you the haste buff
Coercer in group not giving you DPS mod Buff
Shadow Knight in group with AA enhancement to Casting and without Wisdom AA line
Having more then one troubadour in the raid force with their mythical

Factors that Lead to melee damage being more important
Having the Int AA
Inquisitor in group giving you DPS mod Buff
Bruiser in raid force with raid wide Buff on
Illusionist in group giving you haste and Or DA
Coercer in group giving you DPS mod Buff
Berserker in raid force with raid wide buff on
Dirge in group
Berserker in group
Shadow knight or paladin in group that has Wisdom AA Line
Warden in group putting the Slash peirce Buff on you
Templar in group with mythical giving you haste and slash peirce Buff

These are all the factors that i can think of off the top of my head,
If your leaning extremely heavily on one side or the other that's the way you should lean.
