Are we Melee/Casters or Caster/Melee?
I only started playing the Troub around May last year. All that time I was gearing up with Melee stats over Caster and it worked fine, aprox 35-40% of my parse was AA rest CA and Spells.
Now TSO comes out. I view the Legendary and Fabled sets and in most cases go /meh. Most items lost STR (some don't even have STR) and DA, replaced with MC and SC. The sets seem to spread out the plus CA/SD placing less mod per item but has the mod on more items. Legendary set adds AGI(?) and INT bonus. Most of the Legendary set has more STR per piece than the Fabled. What is SoE thinking here?
Wearing a mix of VP/VS/MS sets my self buffed STR is now < 1k and INT > 1k whereas before it was opposite. I'm now runnng ~40% SC?????
Reviewing my parses my AA damage has dropped to ~30% and with a huge increase in CA/SD. Overall the my DPS is higher but it would be even higher if AA would have stayed nearly the same.
Is anyone else seeing the same changes, or do I need to look at replacing some gear Onoes ?

From EoF on, it's all about upping your Melee auto-attack damage.

Thats my point, the TSO set (Legendary or Fabled) gear isn't designed to increase our AA damage, its designed to increase our CA/SD/Proc at the cost of our AA damage.
I know there are a few nice drops in the lower raid zones (belt, wrist) with decent melee stats/mods...just waiting my turn so to speak. ATM I'm just aggravated at SoE and whoever is designing these new armor sets.

Welcome to the fact that our set gear sucks, aside from a few pieces.
The good news is, most other classes also have the same problem and their set gear is not very good either.

What do you expect, the devs aren't experts on every class for some odd reason and so you end up with shit gear choices.

With the multitude of procs and proc rate increases there has been a slight shift towards spell crit being a lot more important. Most times when I'm parsing 8-9k only about 2-3k is coming from autoattacks, the rest is coming from mostly spells, with about 1-1.5k being CAs.

Spells have become a larger part of my dps as well. Reasons
AA base/crit damage mods
Gear higher damage Procs + Bane procs
Gear spell/melee crit gear
Hit Rates Melee hit rates 60-75%
Softcaps Melee caps achieved last tier allowing for easier growth in spell soft caps while still maintaining melee soft caps.(in raid settings)

It's because of the addition of OP AA's, like Icelash, Piece of Mind, and Fanatical Devotion. Combine this with proc increasers from the Bard legendary BPs, and amazing procs (Ring of Betrayel, AA poisons, hemotoxin/wizard/warlock proc, Ethernaut collection reward neck, Bane procs) and proc's are once again king for DPS.
Don't be fooled, our spells still do shit damage in comparison to autoattack (shrill, eli's, tap essence, etc).

I used to lean more in the spell casting direction when I raided early EoF. Even though Ballads and others were proving melee was the way to go. I don't know why, but my DPS just always seemed to be higher when I was spamming spells. Plus my melee weaps were crap from KoS lol...
But anyways, I think that is a cool thing about the Troub class, you can do it either way, and achieve decent, sometimes good, results.

I found when I returned to EQ2 right before the release of RoK that increasing spell damage first gave the greatest returns, it is only when you get into the realm of raiding did I notice my melee start to overtake spells.
Now it is back to spell damage doing most (Nothing like being in a group with an illusionist and wizard and have a 1k damage spell hit for 3-5k because of procs). I had shrill do 11k in one hit because of crit and procs.
