If you don't solo and mostly group, forget all that and just dual wield.
don't have it macro'd but I definatly will once servers come back up, I've just been whacking the hotkeys. Appreciate the help bud. Guess I'm not as bad off as I thought.

Holy shit, forgot the exact name right now, but picked up a shield that procs a heal, + primary wep is a lifetap heals me around 400....

with shield+that wep soloing pretty much anything in Loping Plains just became trivial. Really didn't realize what a difference it made in damage I took. Previously I never had to wait for power, was always health.. now my health hardly ever drops below 80 by the time I finish a yellow, and I'm able to chain so raping my power... thanks so damned much for the help bud!

almost 65 now. Still wish I could get more damned groups on this server.....

If you've done "alot of reading", I'm sure you'd be aware of the major changes at least?

Everything you asked is already answered again and again on these forums - carry on though!

Yes, the difference feels, especially for a returner/newcomer who isn't raid-equipped from the previous tier and can't take the big hits. I know what you're talking about, because I was in about the same situation in the end of 2007. I had quit the game over the shitty expansion called DoF and returned only 2 years later, to find a completely different game .

65-69 was probably the worst grind for me, when I squeezed the last bit of xp out of Loping Planes, Barren Sky and Bonemire to level to 70, since definitely I could not solo in Kunark at level 66 like many other people did. I didn't get groups either because everyone and his mother was in the new expansion.

Get ready for Kunark, when meleeing for a troub isn't an option

Solo-meleeing Kunark below 70 is not an option for a troub. But at 70 you can put 20 more points into the bard tree and get to AGI 4-4-8-8 and STA 4-4-8-8, which, believe it or not, makes a ton of difference. I kept that spec until level 78-ish and I rarely had to kite. I had to resort to it only for the yellow one-ups some solo quests demanded.
