Returning troub...
Hey guys, coming back from big break (like deserts of ro) and trying to get caught back up.. 63 at the moment....weps.. I've been going for high speed, since I know we don't do much throught just auto-attack what's the preferred method wep wise? Does having a higher dmg in mainslot help with some CA's or anything? Is it worth it when soloing to get a roundshield?
Also is there any major change I should help build the troub around? Been doing some reading AA wise and still not real sure what to do..got up to 50 of them, definatly maxed the DKTM line (I went 1-54 without em being in game...playing catch up there)
Any advice whatsoever would be great, kinda casual, solo and grp whenever one is actually around, guildies are all 80 now since left me behind...

Re: Returning troub...
1. If you think we don't do much except autoattacking, quit. No sense to level up yet another clueless troubadour.
2. Dual wield in groups and on easy solo content. Have a shield ready for the harder.
3. Don't put too much thought into your weapons while leveling. Anything mastercrafted will do, heck you can grind with treasured just fine. Level to 80 and get your epic.
4. Get every little bit AA experience you can get. Else you will regret it when you hit TSO. You are already at a disadvantage since you just started earning them. Try to have at least 120 when you get to level 80, better more.

l2read. Didn't ask for a "summarize every single thing that's happened"
did alot of reading and been playing for awhile since I've been back, gamewise I'm aware of what changed, just figured I'd ask for a bit more in-depth knowledge, I appreciate your in-depth well thought out answer. Thank you.

1. Sorry must have said something wrong... "since auto-attack is such a miniscule amnt of our dps is there a difference having a high dmg wep will make for our CA's to max it" is I guess what I meant. I'm aware that CA's and songs are what make us DPS wise.
2. Awesome thank you.
3. Appreciate it, got 1 legendary (Blade of Bixies) a guildie gave me, other is a mastercrafted xeg, might I ask if low delay is better or high damage?
4. Yeah, finishing up a ton of quests that have grayed and I can solo now just to get that, + exploring all the zones I've long passed.
I really appreciate the answers thank you.

Go for heavy hitters with high delay and try to get the same delay main and offhand. Don't forget a good ranged weapon, you may have to kite quite a bit.

Re: Returning troub...
Auto Attack makes 20-40% of your DPS typically. Matching 3-4sec delay with wider damage spread is what you are looking for but for leveling Mastercrafted will do fine.
For CA/Aa damage increase your STR, Spell INT.
Again for leveling up any gear will do, its not like you're going to wear it for long.
Don't worry about using a shield, dual-wield and kite if need be when solo.
AA's are a must have, once you hit the Shadow's line you'll see a nice jump in overall DPS.
As for AA selection, there are posts on the subject or if you want you can take look at mine from a couple months back.... AA_Lines pictures by Oyce_photos - Photobucket They might have changed slightly since then but it still gives you a good idea of what to look at.

True, but it's not a bad idea to have a shield nonetheless. You can't kite everywhere due to SOE's general mob diarrhea (think Kunzar). Not telling it has to be something special, but you get some shields as quest reward which are worth to keep in your bag for a black day.
Especially when you have your first trip to Kunark and experience that all mobs suddenly hit like a truck while your gear isn't yet upgraded much.

Re: Returning troub...
AA wise right now i'm 4-4-6-8-2 in sta for DKTM. just maxed poison in agi, and going down sta to max fortissimo next.
Had an ebony in the bank, was harvesting for a new bow and got a cple of em so having a MC shield made.
I'll see about getting a cpl higher dmg weps now. Thanks for the tips guys.

Re: Returning troub...
Looks pretty much like what I had when I solo-leveled this character on a new server a year and three months ago. When I got to level 70 in Kunark and suddenly could put up to 70 points in the bard tree, I remember I respecced even to 4-4-8-8 in AGI and 4-4-8-8 in STA since I solo'd a lot and that helped. Also, I used my shield almost constantly for the round bash alone. Later, when my gear got better, I respecced to dual wield.
You probably have a macro with bump and midnight tempo in it. Cheap-shot, jump behind and get that macro off followed by Dancing Blade should hit a solo-mob pretty hard. Might put a few points into enhance Cheap-shot for it. Blends also well into heroic opportunities (used them a lot at this time, almost forgot about them now). Don't forget to debuff mobs, if possible right on pull.
If you don't solo and mostly group, forget all that and just dual wield.
