Poor casting order?

Even with razieh's UI mod which is basically a visual of when autoattack goes off, it's only really worth it to time autoattack on bump -> nightstrike combo and be aware when casting thunderous overtune / painful lamentations. Ex. don't begin casting it when you see the bar 1/2 to 2/3 filling up.

With that said, it doesn't improve DPS by very much unless you have a 0 lag environment which for me isn't often. Even small delays (0.0 - 0.5 sec) are enough to fuck up the timing and negate the benefits from doing it.

I think people think they see a huge increase because of Confirmation bias theory.

I don't need ACT to beep at me I just need to pay attention and make sure my AA fires each time. You have 2.1 seconds to play with, sometimes it pays to cancel a long cast time and let your attack go off.
Nice haste you got there . Best I see is 2.4 /sigh.

I've tried using abilites as quickly as they refresh and hesitating a half second between each, and I haven't seen a difference either way. I was relying on another group members ACT numbers for that information, and the variation I saw from one fight to the next seemed normal. I haven't done any research myself other than that, but that was my experience.
