Default Kunark Question

I did a quick search and found nothing - so figure I would ask.

I hit 68 and headed over to Kylong Plains. Grabbed a Drachnid Hunter (yellow to me at 70) and it wasn't pretty. Okay - well maybe the drachnid's are a tough start. I then grabbed a spurbone (even con). Killed me. So I switched to sword and board and killed one - but had to Escape from the next one.

I am tearing them down - but they are ripping into me faster. Do the Kunark mob's just hit harder? I am wearing the T7 mastercrafted chain. I've been applying PoTM and JC. I'm opening with my snare and then going to my best attack songs and CA's and auto attacking. I've never had an issue with any yellow or even cons before. My weapons are both decent (60+ dps) and my piercing skill is maxed. I've got about 65 AA points and have gone down the WIS and AGI lines (WIS all the way - AGI has 8 points in poison proc) and on the troubador I am down the last line (the one with JC and have that one with 5 points in it).

It's a bit frustrating - as up to now - I've not had any issues soloing mobs - and I was in Bonemire prior to this killing the heroic ravasect on my own. Any tips or pushes in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Sounds like you need to kite a bit...ie snare + bow shots..... Boring but it does get the job done. Yes RoK mobs hit like trucks so standing toe-to-toe in MC gear isn't going to go well. Once you get RoK mobs to con blue/green any gear will work but they still hit hard.

You might want to work on maxing slashing, your Epic/Mythical is a slash weapon. When leveling I normally carried a pierce and slash weapon and dual-wielded. Never used a shield.

Yes, RoK was a whole new ballgame when it came to solomobs. I was just as suprised as you when I stepped into Kylong the first time and got minced.

I did kite just about every mob when I leveled through RoK. Just open with a nuke + bowshot, then snare and kite it until snare breaks. Then use Cheap Shot every chance you get.

I'd also advice you to spec out of AGI, the poison doesn't do much but break snares or mezzes when soloing. Improving your nukes in the troubador tree would be better, you might even wanna enhance your Cheap Shot and Snare. Alternatively, you can use STA line for some more defense, but with kiting and Cheap Shot you wont be getting hit much.

I had the same issue when I moved from Loping to Kunzar. I usually open with Shrill, tag it with snare the moment it gets in range, debuff and hit with whatever ranged CA's I have while kiting, by the time I get all of those off it's usually easily soloable the rest of the way. You might also look into getting one of the hex dolls that slows it. Helps some since mobs usually do more dmg auto attack than CA's.

Can't off the top of my head remember my shields name but it procs a 101pt HoT, (roundshield) And I also use a Shadow Sap dirk that procs a decent lifetap.. it really does help.

I'm now 71 and using this can do yellows and evens pretty easily in fens. But I'll agree, you HAVE to kite.

I soloed in Kunark starting at level 70, and I agree that it can be difficult. The strategy I used was to open with the snare and then cast the str/agi and attack skill debuffs to reduce the damage they do. By then they should have reached me, and I first attack with a stun, move to their back and use the attack the returns me to stealth, then the steath attack. From there I would use heroic opportunities, cycling through my attacks until they were dead. I usually didn't kite since I would too often run into something else and be forced to mez it or evac. I specced for sword and shield, which I found really helped reduce how quickly I took damage. A health tap adornment on your weapon is also a big help. The songs I ran were defense, health regen, str/sta, haste, and spell proc. You'll notice a *big* improvement when you hit 72 and can use the mastercrafted gear at that tier. Until then it will be slow and difficult, but doable if you're careful.

Kunark is hell for troubies, 72 MC gear will help a ton, in fact i couldn't toe to toe till i got it. Could only really start to finish quests at about lvl 70ish.

On the other hand, leveling my illusionist now and have been solo'n Kylong since lvl 62... went to fens at 68, skipped the rest of that place and went to kunzar at 70.

i was soloing in kylong at level 66 with crap gear. even w/o snare just backpettal and strafe in a circle. use all your group attacks as they can be cast on the run as well as a few solo attacks. easy as pie.

Well since you posted a non-attack spell. Our Charm isn't castable on the run. As far as attack spells -- Stifling Missle and our AA, Messenger's Letter.

prolly but if your kiting then prolly not in range for a lot of the spells to trigger them initially. and some of em if you do let the mob get close to trigger them, then they toggle your melee attack when you wanna be auto attack with your bow.
