Default To Spam or Not to Spam

a few guild mates and i were discussing the spam CA/Spells Vs. timing auto attacks.

I was under the impression that you should spam because we do 40% of our dmg with Auto attack Vs. like 60% that an assassin would get. so we have to make up the difference by spaming.

I do sometimes wait that split sec if my melee bar is almost done be for i cast something long like a green back.

now the other troub was saying that he times his out and pays close attention to it.

My guild leader then chimed in to say that i should be timing attacks and i am losing alot of dps. But since i am higher DPS in general then the other troubs it perplexed him.

So i came here to find out the straight shit.

thanks in advance.

i did try and look for a pose similar to this. i could not find it. so i am thinking it was buried in another post.
