Troubador enjoyable?
Hi!
I still can't decide which class I should play as my main. I like the style of a Troubador and his helping role, but always when I play him, I seem to not enjoy him that much.
Even in a group it feels like I am just buffing up and then clicking some random buttons to do some small damage over the whole night. That's all!
When I play my Templar or my Paladin I really feel wanted and useful in a group and the different Hotbuttons really do different things...
So maybe all this starts in highend Raid content where a bard is useful and where you have the feeling that you really contribute to your group/raid?!
Playing him solo is not fun either, I am squishy, I do less damage than my Templar.....
So, can you please tell me about better feelings about the bard, since I really like the lore aspect of that class :-)
Thanks alot
Greetings from Germany
Tathos 40 Paladin
Avos 52 Templar
Atiel 26 Troubador
PS.: Please no postings with nothing but a billion "fucks" and no content in this thread.... :-)

Re: Troubador enjoyable?
troubador is such a great class to have around in most situations, the only problem is that they're damn boring to play for the general population.
it takes a certain kind of person to play a troub/dirge...

It takes a special breed to play a troub imo. Thats why there arn't very many around.

Re: Troubador enjoyable?
it's a good class and it's lost of fun to play imo, the only draw back for me is the low dmg and limited soloability. i still play my troub from time to time, just have to take my mind off the parse and focus on making the group exel.
if you decided to play a troub once you get to 80, play potm as much as possible and run a parse so you can see who's doing the most dmg or most healing focus on those players. jcap tanks on inc and if there is only one brig try to keep him high in your rotation.

Re: Troubador enjoyable?
Troubs are fun albeit you're not going to lead the parse, if thats you intention, this is not the class for you.
As with all bards solo'n is somewhat a challenge but it is doable, just don't stand toe to toe with the more difficult mobs.
You are support for the group. The bards job is to make the group perform better.
Once you get gear your survivibility will go up and so will your DPS.
At level 26 you're just getting started as a Troub, keep working at it, if by 50 you still don't like the role I'd say park him for those days you want a bit of something different to play.

Re: Troubador enjoyable?
My Troub sat at level 26 for almost a year. I hated playing it. Then my guild asked if I would level her up for Caster Group as a raid alt. I got a couple guildies to PL me as I used Exp Pots. At level 75 she solos fairly well if I watch my step and do not get in the path of too many adds... Lullabi is your friend when solo. It gives you time to get a quick breather or lock down an extra add. Get used to using Cheap Shot. It is a CA that doesn't upgrade, and I dropped it from my hotbar on accident while leveling, and couldn't figure out why I couldn't solo for crap. I put it back on my hot bar and use it whenever it cycles... boosted survivability emmensely. That extra back attack while the mob is stunned is huge. I use lullabi to mezz the mob, then I can invis and get in my stealth back attack for another lil damage boost.
I took her out on a raid last night even though not at cap yet. She helped out a little J-capping the top 4 on the parse, and PoTMing the caster group. She was a helluva lot of fun. I think she is going to be my main now.

Re: Troubador enjoyable?
A trouby is one of the best soloists in the game, if a mob is mezzable you can solo it, many troubs farm named from zones like chardok easily.
As far as dps a well played troub hits great numbers and are not far behind straight dps classes.
We also get excellent use out of all items and spells with reuse timers due to being able to get J cap at the right time.
Imo troubs are awesome alround toons and vastly underrated. There are tons of great threads on this forum and the dirge forum, that if read through, will convince you bards are way more than just a buff bot!

Re: Troubador enjoyable?
I feel for ya. I remember being lower level and the game was just hard. I started taking my hubby's toons out with me while he was at work so I could lv and get stuff done. Not sure if you have that option. But yes, it was hard in the begining but the payoff is great! I love my trouby!!
Tips.
Like someone said, MEZ!! You mez them, debuff them, then attack them. A lot of the Trouby spells can be cast while moving. This helps to not get hit =)
mob of 3. charm one, send it to attack, mez one, kill the attacking one. then remez mez'd one, kill the charmed (but no longer charmed) one. then kill the mezed one.
Spells. Keep up on your mining so you can get those rare loams. You'll need A3s to do good damage. Hit a group up once in awhile for hot Master zones like FG RE ect.
Armor. Again with the mining. Gotta have that master crafted armor. It'll do well till you get quest rewards and cool drops.
You really will have more to do when you learn your toon a bit better. I was lost for awhile to =) You'll learn what buffs you have so you can swap out buffs for the group setup you're in. Like if you don't need mana on, you can use another buff like attack speed or something. You don't have J-Cap yet but Dude, we're always getting hounded for J-Cap, ppl love the cap =) PotM is something to look foward to also and oince you get your mythical it works for the whole raid, not just your group. When you hit your 50s, join some Courts raids in PoF. I got a lot of nice gear doing that every week. Some of the HQ rewards are very useful for you, don't forget to hit those.
As a trouby you support the group so they can kick ass. When you have good gear and spells you also do well on the parse. You also sometime play that part of mezer, so keep up that mez spell, it's sooo handy.
I hope this helped ya out. Stick with it, it'll take a little doing, but well worth it.

lol seriously.. unless you're in end game gear you're not going to be able to do this. also you need to get a clue about what a good soloer is. troubadors are not effective soloers. they are in fact one of the best group support classes.
