I really like the idea Dants, although I think the mini-PotM is a tad bit too short and and Jester's Melody should be able to proc on ranged aswell.

Glad to see the idea of designing it take off, I was looking for other peoples input and I love it all. My original blueprints were for a pierce spec who casts and a sword spec who melees. Only reason I made the slash one was to bring back the nostalgia of eq1.

Hmm I think if it's going to be an awesome weapon with a high top end etc, we could have 2 procs. One for a group-wide effect as people have suggested, in either the Jesters or potm vein (the 0s casting time idea would be awesome), and the other a short term personal melee/ranged buff - haste, proc, melee/ranged skills etc - for a nice little burst of dps.

Edit just to say, Dirge epic should make CoB root and daze them so they can enjoy that shit for the whole of T8

Damage rating of "prismatic quest" rewards
DW:
soulfire sabre: 63.4
claymore: 57.6
pris 2.0: 42.6
pris 1.0: 32.6

1H
soulfire gladius: 87.8
kilij: 76.8
pris 2.0: 56.8
pris 1.0: 43.5

Something to take into account when figuring out what the ratings on a troub epic should be.

It seems like each time the level cap is raised, the rating goes up by a pretty consistent level. Essentially each "prismatic" quest line sees a damage rating increase of about 10 each tier. The Claymore Kilij and Soulfire gladius reflect this uplift, but are on the same teir.

So what i'm wondering is, will the t8 epics follow that same pattern and approach a rating of 100, or will they be around the same rating, but with more class-specific beneficial effects.

Mudflation blows, i hope SoE does a better job of avoiding it in eq2 than they did in eq1

Because of a discussion over in General Everquest 2 discussion I have changed the style in which i will mod this forum to keep out trolls and spammers. I will no longer edit anything said by the op but will delete entirely . Some post in this thread are now gone to reflect these changes. I apologize to the 1 person i did this to (Calbiyum). Tho you are a troll i had no business editing your post, it should of been removed not edited.

I guess that depends what exactly epics are to be and obtaining them takes.Personally i liked My Idea . That would allow the final versions to be the best weapons in game, but if they are as easy to obtain the final version as prismatic ,godking ,claymore ,soulfire then it should follow something like your data. Lets hope they use something like my idea for the epic quest.

Basing mine off Ballad's, cos i like the names (and i'm lazy). Changed some of the effects/stats and added some resists though.

Singing Blade of Vhalen
FABLED
LORE NO-TRADE
45 str 25 sta 60 int
250 health 300 power
+15 piercing +15 ranged
+1000 vs Mental +1000 vs Magic +1000 vs divine
Merciless Melody
Maestro's Aura
Painful Staccato
Rapier
Dual-Weild Piercing
Damage 72 - 721 (99.125 Rating)
Delay 4 seconds
Weight 3.0
Level 80
Troubador
Effects:
  • Merciless Melody:
    • When Equipped, applies Merciless Melody:
      Increase DPS mod by 30.
20% chance to proc 500-700 mental damage on hostile spell (self only)
  • Maestro's Aura:
    • Triggered effect: duration: 30 seconds. Recast: 2 minutes
    • Grants caster 50% spell haste
    • Grant's caster's group 25% spell haste
  • Painful Staccato:
    • On successful attack, procs 1.8 times per minute, duration 20 seconds. Inflict 300-500 mental damage on target instantly and every 4 seconds.
    • Reduce target's arcane resistances by 1000.
I tried to play to our strengths, that is buffing casters, and debuffing resistances. Comments welcome.

Default Re: Design the troub epic!

- a 12 times per minute proc on spell attacks, next spell
attack a group member casts will have a casting time of 0, lasts 8 seconds

this will be an average of 2 insta casts per minute per
group member, which is far from being overpowered,
but is also a very fun solo tool.

- 2 times per minute off a melee or ranged hit,
increases group members casting speed and reuse timers by 10%, recovery by 50% for 10 secs,
the troub getting an additional 10% to cast and reuse and 50% to recovery.

This could be a nice clicky :

Casts XXX of XXX and a bit of YYY on the troub:
- procs off a hostile spell 3 times per minute, reduces group members hate by 1000,
inflicts 600 mental damage on target encounter

You get the idea, it needs to be group friendly buffs with troubs getting more out of them.
Stats are no big deal as long as they are balanced,
it needs to have a pretty high delay, 4 secs seems nice.
ANd unless crits are more easily obtainable for troubs by t8 i think a small damage spread would be better.

You do realize that even at 1% melee crits, a large damage spread is more beneficial than a smaller one. What you just said is equivalent to: "I'd like the troub weapon to do less DPS than all the other ones."
