Re: should Revelations reform to compete with Confirmed?
Revelations greatest challenge, from the days we were killing Matron and PHH, has been the split between the lazy-casual players, and those who have the time and energy to devote to playing as a hard-core, end game guild. Every time they get comfortable a challenge comes to press this issue, and people always fall by the wayside. This time could be different. This isn't Vagabonds, which had its own casual vs. hard-core dilemma. These are experienced full time raiders who are known for understanding the game, and playing it to its fullest. In order to even think of competing Revelations has to make a final, committed decision to being as hard-core as they can be. It's a decision that could never be made before because too many key people couldn't, or wouldn't, commit the time necessary to compete on that level. Most of those people are gone, though. What's left are the people who stuck it out, and who want to stay in the top guild on the server. Bolstered by the new apps from Dominion, and charged up on their downing of Druusk, they have a very good chance of overcoming their first hurdle - not folding under the pressure.
Members from Second Dawn have two Avatar kills under their belt, while the Dissolution portion of Confirmed has none. Neither does Revelations. Gear wise, though, Confirmed has a huge lead from weeks of farming VP, and practice using their Epic weapons. Revelations will need to kill Nexona, and clear VP to get their mythicals this weekend to have a chance of getting pulls on contested content. Because while they're still gearing up, Confirmed can be out there making pulls and eventually killing things.
It seems unlikely, but there might be hope for Revelations to compete. One possibility is if they can pick up ex-Disso and SD members who are a little pissed they got left out of the move. Also how long it takes Confirmed to work out whatever issues they'll be having merging the two guilds might give them a window of opportunity. Time is not on Revelations' side, but they've dodged bullets before with a little luck. It would be an amazing accomplishment to turn this into a win.
One way or another, Confirmed is definitely going to change things for Revelations. It may not be enough to make them fold, but it could mean the end of their contested raiding. I would be surprised if no one left the guild, or moved to Friends and Family status, in the next 4 weeks.
All I know is I'm glad I don't have to make that call.
