Well I quit too.
After the writs came out, many of us got pretty annoyed at how the developers were treating PvP. We gave them time to fix it up and because they hadn't done it by the deadline, we cancelled.
During the time I'd quit, I didn't miss the game at all. I've realised that since Kunark was released my interest in the game has waned significantly and the writs thing was just an excuse to stop playing. Even though the writs have been fixed I still don't feel any sort of drive to log back in again.
Firstly Kunark has made it so me playing is laggy as all hell. Back during EoF I could raid with the game on High settings with only a minimal amount of slowdown, with both myself and Mirrorboy sharing the connection and doing the raid. Now I can't even engage in a fight without freezing, every single pull I do freezes me for a second or so and raiding is a joke as it takes me up to ten minutes to zone. I've tried to struggle through it but I'm tired of people shouting at me because I can't do anything and I'm also tired of making 23 people wait for me while I sit looking at a bar move along the screen.
Secondly I find Kunark drab. During the beta it was cool to see all these huge new locations. However because of the solo questlines each zone is burned through in a day and there's really no reason to go back. There's four instances and three dungeons. Crypt of Agony we'd all got nearly everything we needed after two weeks. Vaults, Maidens and Chelsith all feel really pointless. Who wants to spend two hours doing something and only get treasure chests or useless rubbish we already have? Especially considering how irritating Maidens is.
Essentially for me the way the game should work is that raid gear should be generic and instance gear should be more specific. This means that you need to visit the instances a lot more because each person needs to pick up the gear for their class. It also means that every time you go to a raid zone everyone has a decent chance of getting at least one item. Just look at the relic gear in Labs - it gets you going back time and time again. Kunark has none of that. With the germans I've spent hours and hours and hours raiding. I've seen one item drop that was usable for me, and it wasn't even that good. When you've got three or four hours to play a day (at the absolute maximum) raiding for what seems like no reason saps all the fun out of it.
And lastly (most importantly) there's just not enough PvP. When I went out with me, Percello, Darc and Sunfire and we met three people in six fucking hours I decided I'd essentially had enough. I play this game to PvP and the same old faces day in day out makes it a lot less fun. Right now the moment a name appears on track we know exactly how it's going to play out. Scambag and Mandalore? Grats we win. Tzameti and Manrobate? Probably time to move on. I might as well be playing the game in my head with it like it is now.
I'm not willing to throw £75 away on a game I already own to move to Nagafen, and that essentially means it's time to quit.
I know most of you won't give a shit about this but I wanted to rant about what the game is like now somewhere and I can't post on the offical forums any more (since my account has expired).
It's true that I've had some good fights in RoK, and some hard ones. But I play MMOGs to PvP and it's just not worth my time to wander around for a few hours and only get a few fights.
