Have any of you actually even read what the job as moderator entails? My guess is no.
If you post off topic it is 100% allowed. However if someone is upset about it being off topic and post regarding it being derailed any further posts off topic are expected to be deleted. Now understand if it stays on topic for some time and another off topic post is made, that doesn't make it automatically delete worthy.
In the past people have complained about a thread being derailed and I even allowed the derailers to make a final case/post along with their derailment before deleting. This was abused by spam and immediately jumping at my throat with accusations of bias. This childish spamming is grounds for a ban which I did not follow up on and simply deleted a boatload of posts.
Keep in mind, while this site is for flames there are limitations. It's much like a harassment policy at a job, you can post whatever you want but if it's obscene/offensive/too personal and I get a legitimate complaint then it may be deleted and depending on the degree you may be banned. If you are one of those people who are out to be an asshole, I will likely ignore your complaint. Yes this is my personal judgment but I also recognize those trouble makers out there.
