Hello, I'm a new warden that betrayed from Fury on request of my guild. Didn't mind because RL BF is fury in same guild and only 1 lvl ahead of me. And our guild is Fury heavy and I'm only warden. Have read quite a few posts to find out about my new class. I love the cool buffs and the new spell that saves ppl at 50%, but am wondering about the dps portion. I don't really want to be a solo demon or kill things in 1second. But I find I do miss the cool dps spells that Furies have. Would someone list the spells to make sure that I have not missed somethin in my knowledge book?? Or are wardens more for groups then Furies? I am also willing to listen to any suggestions on playing a warden. BTW, I'm lvl 56, was 54 when betrayed. So have a lot of catching up to do.
If your guild asked you to betray to Warden and their request was enough for you to do it - I'd ask them what they had in mind and let that guide how you choose your AAs.
As a new Warden, and therefore speculating that you probably aren't STR spec'd, nor do you have much in the way of STR gear - you might not want to do the melee spec right off the bat..because you'll wonder wth is the big deal with melee if you only have, say 50 STR. For that matter, you might eventually wonder wth the big deal is with melee anyway, but..I digress.
If they want you to raid heal - as a new Warden, you'll probably not want to spec melee there, either - again, it'd be a gear/experience issue since healing in a raid while melee-ing is (IMO) kind of tricky if you are new to the concept.
That said, I usually advocate taking every choice that helps you heal better - if that's the role they want you to choose.
As for your spell list request, I'd suggest going to EverQuest II Players there's a tab that says 'spells' and every spell for every class to 80 is listed. You can refer to that list while in game using the /browser command, for a quick look when you level and for when you are shopping.
They must have asked you to betray cause someone wanted your uber buffs.. Yeah, that's it.
Good luck with your new class, though. It's one of my favorites...god help me.
80th Warden, Mayhem (AB)
Dreadnaught Ariel Demoras
70th Warden, OMG I'm Drunk (Venekor)
Wardens get a cold dot, a heat dmg spell, a cold dmg spell, a cold aoe spell, and the wolf pack. There are no other damage spells to speak of.
I can't remember what lvl you get the wolf pack but it is in the 50s.
Thanks, both of the replies were about what I was already figuring. I knew they were wanting the heals, so after reading majority of the AA posts I had picked my AA's where I felt comfy with the heals. However, I was hoping that I had missed a spell or two for melee. I'm not melee spec'd or STR spec'd and I'm not currently sure what the difference is. I really enjoy grouping and being main heal, but was missing the comfort of having a good dps to save my ass when soloing. Though I have to admit that the heals are better so it balances the longer fights a little better then my fury did.
I am enjoying being a warden, just getting used to the differences.
Melee abilities are AA only - and are combat arts, not spells. So you only would get them or see them available to you if you had gone down that AA line in the Warden part of the AA's.
The upgrades to them are only with AA, as well. Any 'spells' that you might have missed (post 50 ones you have to get for yourself, vs. the game giving them to you) that are damages - are nukes.
Hope this helps...and glad you are enjoying the class
I guess if you're soloing and grouping (don't guess at your level you'd raid much) you could do worse than go STA INT, for heal crits and damage spell crits. I say crits because I don't find the warden nukes terribly powerful.
The AGI line is sometimes used for raiding, my warden is specced for STA AGI for raiding, as it will give you an AE block. Don't bother with it unless you intend to be raiding a lot though, I find the charm animals part of the line utter shite.
Perhaps some of the more experienced people here can offer better/more advise, my warden is my alt hehe.
I sure hope your guild is helping you buy all your spells.
My guild did indeed buy, make, give Rares for my next several levels. Not sure why you feel sorry for me. Am really glad I switched. Liked my fury but was not really excited about it. It was my first toon in any online game ever and only picked Cuz my bf is fury. BTW he wanted to duel the other day & dispite the non-existent dps (in comparison) I won due to heals& spells. I agreed to the change due to the increased chance to Raid here in future. like l said I'll be only Warden at my level. however, as I picked up warden as level 50's I would like to hear how you have your's spec'ed for Raiding.
