Once again, many of you have started debating a topic in the "raid-only" mindset.

Many of the AA's for the healers (wardens, mystics, inquis to name a few), were to allow for better solo ability (and dps in groups), as well as add more interest to the class. Not everyone thinks healing is the most enjoyable thing in the world, but we all deem it a necessity. To me, many of the AA's for certain classes (particularly healers) were a way for the SOE devs to make those classes feel like they could solo if they wanted to, as well as add some dps when running an instance with a fairly solid group that may not require all-out healing. I guess the same could be said for trash fights in raids when you have a well-geared, well-practiced raid party. But people forget on these forums that not EVERYTHING was put in this game with the intention of making the raider a better raider. That's why there are multiple choices on the AA trees.

However, I do agree it's pretty dumb to waste points on melee specs if a person IS focusing on raiding for a healer toon, but that's just me.

Seriously though, the game is now what? 4 years old? there seems to be no significant influx of new players, the old tiers are just fucking dead and there is not enough instance content to keep anyone with average playtimes amused for more than a couple of months. Most players at least do pickups raids now, maybe SoE should either do something to bring new players in so you dont have to solo a toon to 80 (cause that caould bore the shit out of anyone) or concentrate on raiding.

In the last two month or so, I'd say I've met roughly 10-15 people who say they are new to the game on my server. So there are new people coming in, despite what some think. There are also many veterans who love to go back and play the old zones on alts or mentored down, as I have also experienced much lately.

No, the true population problem exists with keeping the vets here, which is where I will agree with you on the point that there should be more challenging raid content- but NOT limited to only that. More single and x2 group instances/content would be just as good for keeping the vets interested and active as well.

Yes, the solo quests in Kunark got old REAL fast and were basically carbon copies of themselves for the most part, and I'll be honest that unless they show intent to get away from the same old grind and add more creative group content in the future, they will likely lose many vets to other games on the rise, like "Age of Conan" for example (I know I'll be checking that one out anyways).

But back to my point, the game does NOT stand because of raiding and raiding alone. Unfortunately, the devs felt the other part of that balance was primarily solo play... and they left group content on the back-burner for the most part in this expansion. =/
