Re: EQ2 & G-11/15 Keyboards
What could you possibly need a macro for in this game? Just curious... I hear people talking about these keyboards like they add something, and I'm wondering what I'm missing by not having one.

Re: EQ2 & G-11/15 Keyboards
I use macros for targeting and for some spell cast interrupts (like emergencies, ND and some cures). That said, I'm not sure what a whole keyboard would do for this game. The built in macro utility seems to do just fine for the few that I like to use.
I've seen the G15 keyboard for WoW (and guiltily admit to having a 70 Shadowpriest...I know, I know...), and it looks pretty nice. That game, though, is a lot more complex with add-ons and macros. Some things (like implied targeting) that we just 'get' in EQ2, you have to fiddle with targeting or make a macro to get it to happen smoothly in WoW.
In a lot of cases WoW is a more complex game, but that's not always positive, IMO.
If you are a gadget fan, though, the G15 board is all sparkly and cool looking. I could see why someone would want it.

Re: EQ2 & G-11/15 Keyboards
I use one and I love it, i use it more for my assassin then for my warden. I have my various attack orders macroed and mapped to keys so I can just spam various buttons that are all in one place. the other nifty thing is you can program pauses into the strings, as an example i have harvesting macros that allow me to click on the node and push one button to harvest all three pulls on the node and then invis. this macro is great if your mining for silicate in westin rouk.
in my experience macros dont work so well for healers as they do for melee.
another thing that is really nice is ACT and ventrillo can be programed to display in the lcd, i like this much better the using overlays or miniwindows. my screen is cluttered enough during a raid and it nice to be able to glance down to see the parse in real time during a fight.

Re: EQ2 & G-11/15 Keyboards
I have a G11, and I can make macros that work well using the primary, secondary, and tertiary hotbar commands (some of which are eq2 macros themselves), like a 1-click 3 harvest macro for example. The G11 tutorial is pretty good.
I wish I could make more direct ones that don't use hotbar commands, like
g12=/target maintanksname .... but commands longer than about 12 keystrokes don't seem to work. Is this a function of the keyboard? Or am I missing something?

Re: EQ2 & G-11/15 Keyboards
I have a G15 but admit I've never made use of the "G" keys.
Mine is the updated 2007 model, which went from being all cool blue backlit, to being amber backlit - and 6 G keys instead of 18, and the screen is smaller and now integrated into the keyboard instead of being a flip up thing.
I mainly just like the feel of the keyboard, plus the ability to either have ACT parse results displayed in it - or who is speaking on Vent.
Now, if they allowed us to queue up more than one spell, I would *love* to assign my G keys to rebuff after a wipe - that along with the ability to root the damn tank in place until I'd finished buffing him - LOL

Re: EQ2 & G-11/15 Keyboards
Faeth you can do that but the spells you are queing need have pauses set in the delay between spells. Read through the keyboards local tutorial on macro creation that will help you do as many spell casts as you need. Which is great for buffing after a wipe.
