My experience is (and I am not raiding on my warden) that even when the tank is at 70+% avoidance, Gale is adding around 3%, which isn't something to turn your nose up to.

I would still prefer a forced walk instead of a root. Especially in the instances like Cavern of the Afflicted where so many mobs are coming at you that you're on the move as you widdle one group down and pick up the next group. The root is always the deciding factor of whether I cast it or not. Change it to a forced walk and I'll cast it a lot more.

just as you can disable the deagro buff on a troub if you want to tank,
which is really not a good idea since EoF and only getting worse each
xpack, you can cancel the buff on yourself thus freeing you from the
root and yet buffing the others.

still annoying though,
and besides when was the last time you saw a MT warden?

Are you talking about cancelling the maintained effect, or the beneficial effect it places on the group? Yes you can click off the icon from your beneficial effects but that would be silly, as you're still maintaining the spell and therefore still rooted. You cannot provide the beneficial effect without being rooted.

I may need to play the game again to post in these forums, or maybe not as it keeps me from actually playing.

Youre misunderstanding what he is saying.

There is a way to cancel the effects of the buff ONLY from yourself. By doing so, you also cancel the root.

Heres how to do it. In a group of 2 or more cast Gale. Find the icon for Gale on your SPELL EFFECTS window not your MAINTAINED spells window. The spell effects window is the window that shows all the buff you have on you (group and all) and not the window just showing the buffs you have maintained. Thats the key difference.

You arent canceling the maintained buff, you are simply canceling the effects of the buff from yourself. If you do it properly the icon for sandstorm will still be in your maintained window, your group will still get the effects of sandstorm, and you will be unrooted and not have any of the benefits of sandstorm for yourself.

Note.
This only works if there arent too many buffs in the group. If there are a lot of group buffs you wont ever see the icon for gale in your spell effects window.

I tried it in both spell effects and in maintained, I can't get this to work. Do I need to use a different UI or something?

I am aware of the difference between the maintained bar and the beneficial effects bar

If Larry is right (and I haven't tested this yet, although I remain convinced I am right :D) then it's a bug I suspect. Allowing others to get the benefits without the Warden getting the drawbacks seems unintended.

I'll test properly tonight. I hope I'm wrong, becuase I'll use this spell even more if so.

I owe Larry an apology - he's absolutely right. I didn't know about this! You absolutely can do what he described

Its a bug yes, but it is a bug that has been around since T5. I dont expect it to get fixed anytime soon. Only thing that sucks is Gale is ultra low priority on the spell effects window and if you have both a bard and a chanter in group you wont be able to ever see it to cancel it, but its totally awesome when you can.
