Then why, until recently, you had to grind pve dungeons to obtain the ward gear? Besides, the city sieges are all pve. Only the way to the city is paved with pvp.
And what besides gear is the big motivator for a game? Warhammer has the tome of knowledge, yes, but that's for the luls. Grinding rr80 is boring as shit as well and in no way motivating - nor does it give significant benefits. Claiming and defending keeps is not being done either (least on my server). The rewards from the end game (set items dropping in the city) are not being carried over to the core game - which is the pvp. Then why bother with end game at all?

My point is that you don't need the ward gear to do well in PvP. City Sieges are actually PvP right up until the final King fight. Fighting over a PQ is much more PvP then it is PvE.

Although I would have said it more politely Ossot is correct. As I have said several times the reason to play Warhammer is the PvP. You are not PvPing so that you can obtain some other obscure goal, you are PvPing so that you can PvP. Clearly at least 800k people find that to be more then enough motivation.
Warhammer is a home for PvPers, as long as you don't confuse it for something else the game is quite enjoyable. It's perfect for all of the people that used to bitch about needing to do certain PvE things just to keep up with the PvP that they actually cared about.

Well considering most people who play and like this game, as stated many times now, do it for the pvp, taking it during the day when there IS pvp is kind of the point.

I forget that some people didn't roll on an Open server... I feel bad for them as I truly feel this game is much better played with an Open ruleset. Some of our best fights while attempting to push zone control happen over PQ's. It's roughly similar to if you have ever fought over a Contested Spawn on a PvP server in EQ2.
Also, at least on my server, even the fortress pushes that have occured at non-primetime hours have met a great deal of resistance. I guess an advantage on being one of the most active servers. However, if you think it is dumb to push during the day then I can only assume that you do not like large-scale PvP.

Re: Vanguard or Warhammer?
From my experience at least whenever there is a keep push on any tier but the first, there is always 100percent of the time (during normal play hours 5pm eastern-1am eastern) a grp of opposition defending or attacking a keep.
Im guessing your server sucks? Who in their right mind plays this game to PVE...I mean honestly. These re-res that are like level 40 and rr 28 are the complete joke...you level by pvp, you get gear by pvp, pvp is 1k times more fun then pve...why in gods name would you bother doing pve quests to level unless your just waiting on scenario ques.
And on that note on Badlands I cant remember on any tier waiting longer then 5minutes to pop a scenario when qued. Assuming of course your playing between 5pm-1am eastern.
I play the game super casually, I dont even really treat it like a MMO. In EQ2 I was a HC end game raider, this game I almost treat it like a FPS. Each night is unique encounters, Im never struggling for an epic goals, its just log in maybe for an hour or two join up with a keep defense, or keep offense, and if I dont find anything like that conveniently I que up scenarios and piddle around doing a few pve quests between ques.
For that type of gameplay theres really no better option on the market. Of course if you want to spend massive amounts of time working towards a greater goal each night like: Hitting max level, killing and clearing all raid zones, acheiving all the min/max gear specs then WoW is probably the best choice especially since they are releasing an expansion that has more content in it this week then the last 4 expansions of EQ2 combined.

Re: Vanguard or Warhammer?
Everybody who attempts to tell me that pvp is superior to pve can fuck the rotten corpse of my mom till his dick falls off. Oh yea in pvp you have enemies who can think and act by themselves, wow. Uber. Thats so superior to beating a script, rly. Except when you fight against unorganised retards and wank off to beating a semi-afk muffin-munching fat unemployed pig who plays the game as casually as Chapel below. The truth is, you pvpfaggots, that pvp battle is not scalable in difficulty. Taking a keep from some hobos is not a challenge. Taking an undefended keep isnt a challenge either. Beating a script can be as hard as it is designed for - meaning potentially harder than beating any human opponent.
Playing warhammer non-casually is fail because you have to rely on the opponent being available and in the mood to put up a fight which nobody can guarantee. Coordinating guild nights is a nightmare.

Well pvpfag... so in essence Warhammer is not a game where you can achieve and progress something, since all you do is pvp, ding rr80 some day, and thats it. Improving your toon in pvp is impossible if the best armor isn't better than solo quest rewards. If I wanted to play a game like that, I'd take a fricking shooter. Not some shit game where you have to fucking grind levels and I get stuck in any pixel-high obstacle, or you have to stand still to use your abilities. Fast paced pvp action? lols.

Seeing as PvP is what unlocks what you could consider their AA system.. ya you need RR 80.
You've seen higher RR gear? I haven't. The only higher gear I've seen is the oranges that you can't even buy until a king is beat. The venders only offer up to lvl40 RR gear, but higher level stuff drops in.. gasp.. PvP. I've yet to see any, but I know a WP that sports some RR46 gear that dropped in PvP.
Last night in random oRvR a IB guildie looted a pretty sexy purple belt (from a PLAYER corpse). Keeps as well give 3 gold bags these days, always with at least 1 set piece and 1 purple item.
So i'm not sure what solo quests I missed out on. But can you point me in the direction of the ones that give set items, rare purples, and give me renown points to spend on increasing my attributes? I've only recently hit 40 so I'm pretty noob.
I'm also pretty sure you've never been in a top grade PvP guild. And you've sure as shit never PvP'd against top tier guilds in PvP. Rolling scrubs is easy when you're good. Just like doing VP for the 50th time, or EH, or whatever other raid dragon zone is pretty fucking easy for the 50th time. But going against a group equal to your own is like beating that raid dragon for the first time.. except you can do it 50x and it never gets old.
