Proc gear and AEs?

So I have a question. Most proc gear says that "on hostile spell, do X on target".

So does that mean that when we do a green AE, can the proc trigger on each member of the encounter? How about blue AEs, that don't actually have a target? Or does the proc only occur on the mob we're targetting/implied targeting, no matter how many mobs the spell hits? How does it work when we're in the middle of casting an AE and the target dies, but the spell continues casting anyway?

The reason I ask is because I was CM the other day and I've noticed getting more hits on adds than I usually do, and I'm wondering if its propagations making my proc gear more noticable on AE fights.

(And no I'm not stupid, it's not netherrealm/gift =) )

not to be mean, but der der. if you chaostorm 8 different mobs, each peice of proc gear u have may or may not proc on any of the 8, depends on your luck, but prop makes it much higher chance. as for greens, same thing. the hostel action can be a spell, or another proc your item. procs can proc procs.

No, they can't. Procs do not proc procs, unless they're broken.

pretty sure they do? procs can proc procs since they are your hostile action on the mob. could be wrong, but thought thats how it worked.

If a proc could proc a proc, then you'd be able to get into an infinite cycle of procs and you'd be able to kill any mob in 1-shot with enough procs. Proc chance is normalized to cast+recovery. Procs have 0s cast, 0s recovery, thus have 0% chance to proc anything.

The only exception is Aftershocks, but this really cannot be considered a "proc"

I'm just curious because it says "procs hostile spell on TARGET". And so I was thinking that even if you AEed, the proc would only work on the single mob you targetted/implied targeted.

I've was using only one piece of damage proc gear at the time, (all my other proc gear was detaunt) so it was difficult to tell what was happening. With this advice, I think I'm going to end up whipping out the skywatcher robe more often...

Procs can proc on multiple mobs in or out of an encounter. As a swash with hurricane I have personally witnessed multiple instances of poison debuff icons-hemotoxin and turgurs for example.

I should also add that I have seen multiple instances of a proc resulting from both just ae autoattack and from blue AEs.
