Spell Crit, Spell Damage Etc
Where do you place the most importance when looking for gear? Are you looking for items with + Spell Damage? Or would you be more interested in picking up something with + Spell Crit?
I've noticed a few of these RoK items kicking around that lower Hostile spell recast/cast timers by 1 or 2 percent, how much of an effect will that end up having VS other mods?
Myself I've started to swap out a few chunks of gear for these +Spell Dam chunks. When possible I've been trying to raise my Spell Crit. Do you think this is a good way to go? Or should I be mainly focused on Spell Crit, picking up the +Spell Dam as an afterthought?
Currently(And this will change by tonight)
73 Warlock - 105 or so AA
KOS: AGI/WIS (Using Wand of Crystalized Plasma)
EOF: Prop/Explosive - 8 points into the ward on Magi's Shielding
I'm working my way down the KoS STR line to the Spell Crit bonus with all these new AA I've been picking up.
Thoughts?

Re: Spell Crit, Spell Damage Etc
This is basically the solo expansion. The first thing I did is respec the points out of my EoF tree and put them into the KOS; so I have AGI/WIS/STR (with extra points into the STR's uncontested parry). Then I put 10 points into E:Magi Shielding.
After that I went down the Hastenings line. The DoTs are pretty worthless because we can't tank these mobs to death like we could in previous expansions, but hastenings is a useful tool for helping you level faster. Eventually I got propagation back as well, but it's not very useful for root-n-nuke solo. You want to dump all your proc grear so it doesn't break roots, and also so you can concuss pull mobs quicker and safer than body pulling. It's still good for stuff like WoCP and VWP, but the effect is minimal with that gear alone, and everything else in the prop tree is worthless for solo.
Explosives is worthless for solo as well, since there are no solo linked encounters in RoK. (Well a couple links in northern fens but thats it)
So after getting Hastenings and Props, I picked up vacous. I figured I might as well have it since it only cost 6 points (with 10 already in magi shielding) and it would help a little in groups.
When I go back to raiding it will probably be AGI/STR/WIS, Hastenings/Props/Explosives. But until then I'll stick with Hastenings/Props/Vacous, because I need those 10 points in E:Magi Shield to survive RoK heroic mobs in groups. (Right now there aren't many tanks on the server who can hold aggro off me, not that there were many beforehand)
I picked up Sagacity instead of Catalyst because its annoying to wait for your hp to regen while soloing. Plus, in RoK dungeons many mobs have annoying manadrain/increased mana cost abilities.

Re: Spell Crit, Spell Damage Etc
I've also found that maintaining power in a raid is very difficult compared to what it used to be only running 1 power regen in the group. I've got my crits just under 50% raid buffed, but i didn't take catalyst. I'm thinking about going Agi/Wis to their end abilities, and Str to max crits with no Catalyst.
Also, with the reduction in EoF proc gear, and the idea that lots of extra crit % items may be more worth while then 800-1000 in proc damage, would speccing out of propogations be a viable option? Right now i have the range reduction to help avoid raid AEs while we gear up lots of new people still in treasured and weak legendary.
Kind of curious what some of the other, more notorious warlocks are speccing now that we are actually getting a solid grasp on the expansion.

Re: Spell Crit, Spell Damage Etc
well the propagations line even without getting propagation is a nice line to go down reguardless.
Im leaning more towards more crit than anything. Also with some of the items i've seen with the increasing spell and CA damage it will still be ideal to go down propagations and also some proc gear for awhile i dont see being upgraded anytime soon.

I am also going spell crit before spell damage. It just seems to be a bigger return damage wise with more crits.

Re: Spell Crit, Spell Damage Etc
Currently I'm focusing on getting the best possible compromise of spell reuse/crit/spell haste. Building AAs around the maximized spell reuse (50%) is something worth taking into consideration as to not waste AAs. In raid situation with fury of innoruuk, crit pot and the smoldering scroll with 15 min 1% crit adornment i get around 62% spell crit.
I've come to the conclusion spell reuse is the N1 parametre to work for, it definitely has the biggest impact on dps. Spell damage is kinda meh, i'm only at 380 BOE atm.

Re: Spell Crit, Spell Damage Etc
Atm, I have only been through Tier1 RoK raid mobs 2X. Once with my old proc gear and once with 800ish BOE. With that limited data they parse about the same. This is with my same spell order.
It is still early but I will test +proc gear and spell haste/reuse next.

Re: Spell Crit, Spell Damage Etc
Just got the reet knight helm and will be testing it's dps output tonight. Never had a very good helm in the past, BoD never dropped for me so I was stuck using the spell proc hat from T6 courts. Hopefully the 15% reuse proc stays up often enough to make a nice bump in overall dps

Re: Spell Crit, Spell Damage Etc
Right now I'm going by the formula 25 SD = 1% crit = 1% spellhaste = 2% recast reduction. But much like Velizar, I'm finding surprising improvements from recast reductions, and am thinking about bumping it up to a 1:1 ratio.
(I rarely have TC but so I'm not deep in diminishing returns)
I doubt ditching props would be a good idea. Even if no one had proc gear it still works for stuff like aria and synergism. It would still be more effective than Enhance: Dispel Magic /rolleyes

Re: Spell Crit, Spell Damage Etc
I have the reet knight helm and it's pretty good with the only downside being that procs can't overwrite. No matter, it procs often enough to be one of the best helms out there. Btw i'm pretty sure 1% crit is more than 25 SD. Anyway i have too much spell haste so scaling the reuse on the better dps spells was a necessity. I don't even ask for TC most of the time since i'm stealing agro like a bitch even on single mobs and on most of the nameds its a certain OS.
