I had a couple people ask me what our new level 80 spell looked like and then saw people askn about it on the eq2forums so I took a video and thought I'd post it here too for anyone who is excited to see our new spell line.
Acid Storm
It is a 30sec duration invincible swarm pet which follows the selected target around until either the target dies or spell expires.
Acid Storm does poison based damage every 2secs
(30 seconds/acidstorm)/(2 seconds/tick) = 15ticks/acidstorm
The damage I have seen from Acid Storm ranges in the 450-950 range at adept 3. Lets call the average damage around 700/tick (considering that Acid Storm is on a single target and the target is close to the center of the storm).
700dmg/tick * 15tick/acidstorm = 10500dmg/acidstorm
Without considering casting speed reductions it takes 4seconds to cast this spell and .5sec for the recovery after. Since the swarm is invincible and long cast it makes a great "on pull" spell to cast, so that you are casting it during some of the mob's travel time to your location.
(10500dmg/acidstorm) / (4.5seconds/acidstorm) = 2333dmg/sec
This spell is designed as a pbaoe spell much as our Dark Infestations are so that dmg/sec number will multiply as more mobs are added to situations.
The benefits of this spell include:
It is a high efficiency spell that does dmg over time to keep our aggro gain lower.
It will not die from mob aoes like our other two swarms will.
If the mob dies before the spell runs out the swarm pet will return to the warlock and stay follow it's master until it's time expires.
The 7piece bonus on our Judgement set boosts this spells duration by 15seconds making it 33% stronger.
Downsides to the spell include:
Since it is not a traditional swarm pet it cannot have it's own aggro and therefore all aggro earned by the swarm is attributed straight to the warlock.
If the storm paths to the mob in an odd manner it will continue to cast it's aoes every 2 seconds picking up every friend it can find.
If you cast the swarm on a mob and the tank decides to run and get something else mid fight or go by a building you will soon find that Acid Storm is a great party starter.
